I've got a lyric, but...

can't remember the song or artist.

My brother called me this morning and asked, "who sings that song that goes,

'I wanna go to New York City..'"

and I jumped right in and finished the line,
'They told me it's the place to be.
Oh, I wanna go to New York City,
Bumpa da bump a dabump bump...."

It's a rocky punk kind of song from the late 70s - maybe 80s.

I threw out Ian Dury, but we can't find any reference to it on the weeb.
I was even thinking The Forgotten Rebels, but that's not right.

He said the Sex Pistols as they have a song called New York, but it's not that one.

Anyway... any ideas?
It's driving us nuts!

Being an old pistols fan I had to give that disk a quick spin.
Maybe a ramones or pixies tune? Now you have my brain itching.

I was right in to the pistols when I was in high school - anything but spandex was my motto back then..
I even silkscreened the bollocks album cover on an old jean jacket for art class - I got a A. :huh:
