Just bought a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab with the 5.7 in it. Truck only has 88.5k KMS. I found that my 2000 1500 extend cab just was a little too tight for any more than 2 people going camping for any lenghth of time and comfort for anyone going with us was a little snug on legroom and I wasn't comfortable with the legroom on the Club cab (35") Crew has 39 and the Mega has 44 and the seatback can also tilt back. I have been looking around for a Mega for a while and most were way too high in either price or mileage and this week this one came online and I went to look at it on Thursday and sealed the deal. I had thought about waiting till the weekend to look but decided to ramp up the view time and am happy I did as the owner had a number of people starting to line up with times to view. The price was below all of the ones I had seen on the market so I jumped in. Pics to follow when I get a chance to down load them.

Right on...Congrats! Only thing that could have made it better would have been a 5.9..Six in a row motivation...;)

Here is a pic of my new baby. Went to safety it today and it needs a drivers front wheel bearing. Dealer quoted $600 for the bearing assembly and $ 200 and something labour plus 13% taxes. I ordered the hub assembly, 16 NGK platinum plugs and the drivers front universal from Rock Auto for $261 usd shipped to the door. I will do the labour myself when the parts arrive. The plugs I will do at another time as they are not a priority and just ordered them because it saved on shipping later. This 1500 has the 2500 suspension. IMG_0115 (Medium).JPG

I have not yet seen a MegaCab that didn't have the 2500 suspension. I think they all did, in fact.

Good-lookin' rig!

Yes, all megacabs were built on the heavier chassis. The gas burners also used the AAM 10.5" rearend instead of the 9 1/4.

I would've expected higher numbers, although honestly that's more than I'd ever need for anything I was going to tow.

That was just of one googled website. I think I saw another and it was a whole lot different. Much higher numbers. I guess the only way to do it would maybe use the Ram 2500 as a start point being that most every thing about mine is 2500 series. Some added info. For regular cab and Quad Cab models, V6 labors under heavy load, when passing, or climbing hills. The 4.7 V8 has adequate power, but the 5.7 Hemi is the best choice for heavy hauling or towing. Mega Cabs, more than 1100 lb heavier than comparable Quad Cabs, move quickly from a stop but lack reserve punch for merging or passing. Hemi's Multi-Displacement System undetectable in use, doesn't affect power output. Test 4WD 5.7 Quad Cab did 9.5 sec 0-60 mph. SRT10 has abundant power. Ram's maximum towing capacity is 3750 lb with V6, 7650 with 4.7 V8, 9100 with 5.7.

Because every 2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab is based on the Ram 2500 Quad Cab’s long bed frame, these trucks are serious work horses. A truck of this size will be a great fit with folks who need a vehicle that plays hard and works harder.

The standard powertrain for the Dodge Ram 1500 and 2500 Mega Cab models is a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 making 345 horsepower at 5,400 rpm and 375 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard. Maximum towing capacity with this powertrain varies from 7,200 pounds on a 1500 with 4WD to 10,800 pounds on a 2500 with 2WD.

The 2500 series come in either 8800- or 9000-pound GVWR with a payload range of 1430 to 2620 pounds, depending on engine, transmission, trim level and choice of 2- or 4-wheel drive. Towing capacity ranges from 8100 up to 12,900 pounds. Mega Cab adds about 400 pounds over a 2500 Quad Cab.

From DCF Now I wonder what a 26 foot car hauler full of Charger parts would weigh. Does said trailer have its own braking system as I don't have an electric controller.
