It's that time again, Canadians

*falls off chair laughing*

*forgets about looming research report, starts making fun of Canada in the same word document as the Thomas Paine analysis*

:D

damn taxes. Hopefully i dont have to pay the goobermint this year

*crosses fingers and plots revenge on the goobermint*

I actually got a refund this year, but all that means is that I paid them too much in the first place.

Still, that's better than getting bent over the barrel for a big one.

For those that do not know there is an ad with the exact same jingle but "Hands in my pocket" about bankers fees. They show many people jogging, playing tennis, waiting in line, getting married all with bankers with their hands in the person's pockets.
Rick Mercer's is a perfect parody!

And I think from the latest statisitics, a Canadian pays the same percentage of income taxes at $35,000 per annum as a US resident does at $145,000 or so. That's percentage not total. IE - 45%
When you combine provincial and federal taxes you're screwed over. Add municipal, fuel levees fees excise, fees etc to everyday life and using the Canadian Taxpayer Federation "Tax Freedom day" calculator, I start working for myself on June 29th

Just be lucky Canada just knees you in the nuts. America bends you over with no lube[smilie=2: And they refuse to buy you dinner before or after:doh: :(

I'm worried. I did my taxes myself with some tax software.
I did my brother's for him too. We had almost exactly the same amount of refund - off by 30 cents. He had to print his out and send it in, instead of Netfile-ing it. So, before he mails it, he decides to go to H&R to get the money quicker. They do it and find out that his refund isn't that big at all. Not even close....
I double checked my entries and everything's in there, but I'm still worried that they'll came back and try and extract some of that refund back..
