The paint fumes have cleared so I'm
that big bastard of a toolbox tucked away in my basement. The only cars down there are 1/24 scale and the work they need, well, these tools won't work.
The place I'm doing somework currently doesn't have enough space for the monster, so it's been sitting in my garage since early this month. Tools were still in the drawers, piled high in the cellar. What I needed for work I carried in a couple of milk crates.
Today, the grinder and cutoff wheel came out, the boxes were removed from the chassis, and piece by heavy piece they went to the basement.
Leaving it in the garage was out of the question - really it's only four walls and a roof. The dirt floor prohibits doing any work in there, and it rivals the Doc's garage for being jam-packed with stuff.
Being in the middle of some serious home renovations when the big B occured in October, things were pretty much crammed in wherever they would fit. Floor joists, two-by-fours, insulation, drywall, car parts, tools, car parts, etc... It was everywhere. Even my workbench, moved to make room for the reno, was piled so high with stuff it'd take days to clean it off.
I think we lost one of the cats down there somewhere.
Slowly, things are getting put where they belong. The renovation is progressing nicely a few hours a night and weekends. The toolbox, hopefully, won't be in the basement permanently, but at least I can now get at the tools. Putting the box and drawers back together tonight, I began to think that maybe I've got too God damned many tools.
I should have picked a trade where the tools were lighter, like bricklaying or something like that.
It's a bitch to move the friggin' thing, gotta be a ton of weight there.
