Buy one? a12, I'm married with 4 kids at home and none even have the slightest interested in where the door is or how to open it if they get there. So to buy a new car is completely out of the question.
I've heard the Chally will be in the $45K USD range, when it comes out and there are rumors that the first batch are commanding a $12-$20K premium just to be first on the block to get the recall plagued versions.
The styling of the Challenger is at least a breath of fresh air from the masses of cookie cutter, cross haired grilled things Ma, or should I say Damn-Ler has been tossing out.
But buy one? A 1970 Challenger is one of my favorite looking Mopars. I am sure that even when the 2007-2008-2009 or whenever this one comes out I will be able to buy a 1970 version for less coins than a new one. And I would sooner have a 1970 than a 2007-2008-2009 any day of the week.
For daily utilitarian motion machines I use a Turdcel and a Upchukundai. Why? Mileage! I am only going to work or Home Despot or Crappy Tire so why use a good car. And if I want to drive a nicer car, open the garage. Many times I have said I have little to no interest in new cars. I don't - simple. To me cars died around 1974. And those last 3 years are on shakey ground. When chrome bumpers, square brick styling, the dirty, loud, wasteful hemi stopped being on the option sheet- the party ended.
The 2007-2008-2009 Challenger is different from the other offerings from Damn-Ler. Much like getting a swift kick in the nuts every three minutes. One day for a change you get a kick in the head. Now isn't that better? There - my analogy for the Challenger. I'll never have a 2007-2008-2009, unless its a lottery win. To take money and buy one of those, when I can buy a 10 or 15 year old crapfest for $700-$1000 and put the rest into a fun car - well there is how I am about it.
Analyze that.
I have no interest in new cars.
It was inevitable that technology has advanced the automobile in all areas and handling, acceleration, top speed, build quality, many festooned accoutrements are available or standard are part of the cars of today. If we didn't advance that doesn't speak well for humankind.....well greenhouse gas and global warming are nasty byproducts for the lifestyle we have chosen.
But as far as new cars -I just don't like them. Again gimme the 2000 Turdcel and some coins to buy Dart or Super Bee or 'cuda parts.
Apologies to all the new car lovers and others that may be offended by the rantings of a naysayer- but my love for the automobile is stuck back in time. For me the new things are conveyance devices - nothing more. The cheaper I can convey and piss off the gas companies by refueling less, the better.
