I'm Building a Stock Car!

Hiding In The Bushes While
Yeah, had a change of plans with the Wagoneer and the frame at the back looked like swiss cheese.

So anyways, I'm building a stock car for the 2007 Season to race at http://www.yellowheadspeedway.com/.

My car will mostlikely be a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere II 2dr HT powered buy a 383 4bbl, painted black and white to look like a cop car. :giggedy:

The Belvedere is pretty rotted out, looks similar to the Valiant. :D

The car is a running driving 318 LA powered right now with a 727 an 8.75.

The biggest, hardest most expensive thing to do is to build or buy and assemble the cage, everything else is EASY, the rules for Thunder Stock class cars are very relaxed.

Should be a fun time! :)

The only thing that sucks is no limited slip rear ends.:doubt:

If I can get some sponsering, like a huge decal for the trunk maybe? :toot:

I found a '75 Cordoba stock car to rob the cage out of!:giggedy:

Oh, the beater Newport is no more, I sold it to a guy from Alberta for $500!

Damn, the owner of the Belvedere doesn't want to sell it anymore. :doubt:

But that '75 400 4bbl Cordoba isn't in too bad of shape and I think I might just buy and run that car! :giggedy:

Ok, I noticed I'm talking to myself about this so I'll continue. :D

So anyways my buddy with the '75 Cordoba is gonna keep and race that car. :doubt:

So the Newporker is gonna get a cage! :giggedy:

Totally sucked today.

Why is that?

I was trying to fix the Valiant so I could get it out from in front of my shop so then I could put my motorcycle back together so I can roll that New Yorker in the shop and start stripping it but NOOOOO it had to freakin pour today! :doubt:

That sucks.

Tell me about it.

So whats new?

Not much, you?

Meh, same old same old.

:shifty:

So just two people care about me putting together a Mopar stock car? :doubt:

When mine races there will be two Dodge cars racing in the thunder class amidst a bunch of chevs an oldsmobile and a huge buick.

Sorry DW - I'm not disinterested in your project - I'm just not much of a stock car racing fan...

...But hey - if you are having fun with it, that's all that matters, right?

True! :D

You like going straight rather then around in circles? :)

I've never been a fan of drag racing but dirt oval! Man I'm ALL OVER IT! :giggedy:

I love to try roundy. I have no fear when driving with ppl who know _how_ to drive. It's the idiots on the highway that scare me.

I spent one season doing the roundy-round thing, (back in my reckless & carefree days):toot:

I learned a lot, and it is a lot of fun. But it also sucks up a lot of coin and time.
It's not as easy as you may think to make a car turn.[smilie=f:

Stretch used to run a circle burner, although on pavement. Alas, it was a Chevy. :( Used to be a lot of fun to go out and watch him run...

I enjoy stock-car racing at the local level, where it's not a parade. I don't really care for the late-model class, which is one of those-no-basis-in-reality deals--completely hand-constructed cars with no production anything. Of course, the guys running that class think they're "the show" people come to watch, which ain't true in the least. The classes based on actual production cars are a blast, though, and that's what folks want to see.

The Black Bitch almost ended up a race car in PA, but I decided against it. All they had was dirt and I'd have rather run it on pavement if I was going to pour that much cash into it.

I used to do the roundy round racing on a limited basis some years ago. It's a lot of fun hanging and banging on the track but upkeep of the car is like having a another job and the cost became a burden.
The few Mopars than ran (very few) at the track I attended never seemed to do very well against the sea of Chevys, alas much like stretch I also ran a Chevy.:shifty: It was a 24,000 original mile 78 Impala that was brought to the junkyard I was working at from an old womans estate that had no title and a weak trans. The car was super clean other than a few dents and I was often chastised for stripping it down and racing it. :D

Have fun Dippy and if you need any pointers on alignment tricks to make it turn left let me know. ;)

i imagine running an import like a rwd toyota or volvo would be a bit cheeper than keeping a v8 happy

Yeah but the wheelbase has to be 114" or longer for thunder class and the expensive street class and is only open to American build cars.

Beeper.

I know about the camber adjustment and I'm gonna set up the passenger side torsion bar higher then the drivers and I'm thinking of sneaking an extra leaf into the pack on the passenger side and adding weight to the rear drivers side frame rail. :shifty::toot:[smilie=i:
