I'd like to introduce RAE....

thrashingcows

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing...so I'm
....and RAE stands for, Ruff Around Edges....[smilie=::

I just drove him home today from Kamloops...about a 3 1/2 hours from my place. I went up a checked the it out last weekend, liked what I saw and bought it.

So without further ado....

It's a 84 Dodge Crewcab long box, D350 1ton. Has a 89 Cummins with a 96 NV4500 and a set of 3:54 gears. I drove 210miles and didn't even use 1/4 tank of fuel, and that was over the extreme mountain passes too boot!!

at first thought..sweet a 4dr..then wow a very cherry gutted 4dr...then OMFG turbo cummins..HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!....dare i ask what you scored that beasty for

i love the older 4dr dogs..pre 96..ya just dont seem em regardless of year

Awesome crew cab!:giggedy: That was smart putting the NV4500 in it. Those shift so much better than the Getrag, plus the gear splits are far superior. With that combo, that truck should easily get over 25mpg empty, rolling 75mph.

Nice find, but I'd do something about that exhaust. That has to be the most restrictive cobbled up exhaust I've ever seen and trust me..I've seen plenty.

Been looking for a cummins powered 1st Gen crew for a while now, not cheap and always far away when I have found one. So when I found this one close to home I had to jump on it. Although I really wanted a short box...but I can always make it one down the road. As for price...well I paid a bit more then I really wanted too, but where you gonna find another one...$6K... :shifty:

That is the first thing to go...little too redneck for even me...:D Going to run straight 3" with no muffler.

i dont like the way the pipe is ran but i dont mind it..its become the in thing to do..and on the right trucks it dont look bad..you just need some chrome wheels to go with it

6k for a turbo D hell yeah..you may have paid more than you wanted but thats cheep!!!!

you call it rough around the edges..where is it rough all i see is clean and straight

fishy even tho its longer i bet it still out turns your ford..mopar ssteer is tighter lock to lock :p

I know I say she's rough around the edges, but it's rust free and pretty straight. Lots of dents and dings, some interesting fab work underneath, and the paints wearing thin and chalky...it more the cosmetic details then anything. Should be able to bring it around to my personal tastes and standards eventually. ;)

It looks like a pretty-sexy rig to me, Cow. I especially like that they lost the ghastly '84 grille and went with the '86-up design... this is a lot like what I wanted to do with the Wiener Dodge, but I had no time or money when I owned it.

The stacks need to go... they're as gay as AIDS. The rest I like, and would like even more were it a dually.

I know of a shop that can give you tips as to how to wick that Cummins to its absolute best. Yeah, it's early, but if anyone knows how to draw power and efficiency from it, Kurtz Diesel in Florence WI can show you the way. I know these guys personally as friends, and they know their stuff. I think a prerequisite to working in this big-truck shop is that you must own a diesel, preferably a Cummins. Ask for Art or Steve. They know how to make oil-burners run.

Ah jeez - really? I'm so sick of listening to guys that do that blaaating around town..:dgt:

Cool find on a decent truck tho. [smilie=:: I'm jealous.[/QUOTE]

Actually those are guys who have probably cranked their motors WAY UP and are running 4"+ exhaust systems, mine is all stock and not noisy at all. Heck it was no louder with those stacks, and no muffler, then my neighbors 7.3 powerstroke fjord. If the truck is too noisy then I'll just throw a muffler on it...I don't realy like those noisy trucks either. ;)

BTW the stacks are out, and the redneck decals are gone form the rear glass. Will snap some pics of the changes tomorrow.

That's a pretty solid truck. I'd be happy to drive that around.

I like the look of those Rams, more truck-like than the newer ones.

With the 3" pipe & no muffler, it'll be fairly quiet at idle, but the resonance in the cab will be unbearable when you're towing. I tried it on my 90, and wound up putting a muffler on it. Nothing but wind noise after that.
