I need suggestions.

so imagine, some guy, who may look like me...may not...probably lives close to me anyway, decides to travel a reasonable distance to go find project cars. where would I ...err, he go?
I am thinking one at a time stuff for now. buying for less than $500 US , MUST be rustfree....is this a feasible business venture?
Any thoughts?

I used to have a "Big Nickle" Penny paper style add here locally/ Reno area. I bought a ton fo stuff for years for $500 and under. The ad was $150 a year and then to $300. Now they want $1500 plus, so needles to say, I no longer buy the stuff.

I still stumble across stuff because guys know who wants it. However around here, the days of $500 decent cars are over. I had a free 74 dart roller, rust free, no drivetrain, could not give it away. Put it on ebay and it sold two days ago for $51.00. No onewants that body style, but thats about whats left for cheap. I just stubmbled across this 70 Challenger a couple of months ago for 2K, rust free except the trunk, very small patch needed. No title- but thats a rare fine these days.

70 challenger
where I found it
Non running has a 273 comando motor out of a 67 barracuda in it. All there except manifolds, has headers. Not sure what motor is going into it, but it will have the T/A look when done, I THINK!!

The people driving by can't see the cars in the fields because the corn grows too high around them.

Well it sounds plausible anyway. :p

It comes down to which state salts or clorides their roads in the winter and climate in general for a particular area. I always smile when I see the carpet removed- makes a hell of a difference. Last night the shop owner on wrecks to riches tossed 6500 out for a 69 camaro shell with new rear quarters and some primer. Cost him another 2 Gs in replacement panels before they got it all. Had the original carpet though.:jagoff:

Focus on the Soutwest. Try to prowl around podunk towns where expectation on profit is not in the stratosphere. Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Nevada, Colorado would be my focus area and the more remote the town the better. You might not find much but what you do find should be buyable for really reasonable prices. Focus on the big towns and you will find lots of cars but almost guaranteed that all of them will have a hefty price tag on them.

Doesn't Dippy do this kinda thing? Buy cars for cheap fix em up and sell em for profit?:hmmm: He seems to be doing ok with it if he is.

Why not hook-up with Jamie, he seems to have an endless supply. :toot:

Hey Adam! :)
I think the way dippy and I do things will be slightly different.
I may have to hook up with the Gio-master this summer. :)

Georgia seems to have quite the supply and with Katrina last year I'd check out lower Louisianna.

Nice Dave!
Kansas is good, DCF? any particular reason?

My brother-in-law's brother-inlaw used to go down there twice a year to look for projects. Mostly Model T stuff.

But, they'd find something that was buried halfway up the doors in mud and dig it out to find perfect metal everywhere.

[smilie=f: Always check ALL threads on nuts every day!!

Seriously tho, there is a junkyard a mile from my house that has 3 rows of A-body cars. Dusters (2 sunroof cars) and a bunch of darts, but the owners says no complete car sales.........That being said the county and city people are starting the process of making him leave.
There sticking point is he's been there for 40 years and you dont want this type of case in front of a jury.
I'll stop by one day this week and ask him whats going on with the case, maybe he'll be in a whole car sale mode if he's gonna lose the iminent domain case.
