finally.....!

i just got a loaner computer to hold me over till i can get the new dell for christmas, and i had to get internet and cable installed all at once,so i figured why not!

i have a new mission,finish the challenger with a 7500.00 budget

i was approved for an SBA loan after all this hurricane crap, and i have to use 7500 to replace or RESTORE a vehicle since i lost both of mine in the storm (good thing i told them that the chally was worth 4500,hehe!)so i am a man on a mission.i have a paint and body guy, also a great mechanic to build this bad boy,i just need all the parts.i think i will start a seperate thread for that though.

glad to be back to a semi-normal life again (i dont think it was all that normal before the storm now that i thin about it.......)

NORMAL???????? Fugetaboudit. So you live in New Orleans again? Do you have a boat house? Are you installing pontoons on your chally? Are you building an Ark? Welcome back.

Welcome back! Thought we may have lost you to the boat boards. :D
Keep us posted on the car! :)

I thought they pretty much are writing that place off as a waste land, do you have a good job there to keep you going?. How deep did the Challenger get swamped?. Between Nagen & Blanco that whole governmental system needs a good flushing.

Sorry, the politics down there just rubs me wrong. Back to the challenger, what do you need us nutters to look for for you?. E-Body stuff is scarce here in the rockies but I know a couple of guys who can almost get anything.

That sounds like where I live....

Glad you're back, knuckle. Keep us posted on progress and what you're hunting for...

new orleans is pretty much trashed as well as chalmette (where i am from) arabi (parents house) and damn near everything between there and here.i live in slidell, which is about 20 miles north of new orleans.the house i bought only had about 6" of water as opposed to the 7 ft i got in the other house.

back to the challenger....

it had about 3 ft of water over the roof, but the car was totally torn down, and drain plugs removed,so it didnt float off at least.the seats were soaked,i will have to replace the cushions, and covers and i also have to do something about the tracks that have started to rust.

the dash was pulled out,and the guage cluster was not in the car when i got it,so i will be rewiring it also.as far as used parts,i need a couple of doors, hinges, and maybe a fender being that the people who gutted my house broke the bottom connection off.

most of the interior panels look fine, but i think i will replace them eventually.the 440 block is fine, its STILL in the machine shop with the 906 heads, but there isnt a rush on that anyway.

i may be looking for a nice running engine tranny/combo if anyone has one available......

Wild or mild? I have a sweet drivetrain in a 73 T and C with 60 on the clock, I put the last 7 or so on it. Cast crank motor but drop in and go no problem. This C-barge is longer and heavier than a one ton and pegs the needle with a slight amount of secondaries applied on a holley economaster. Smooth idle and unleaded compatible. I cant afford to give it away. Glad you made it to higher ground there.

how much are you looking to get for it?
Its the cleanest tightest best running car on the place. The cruise control, air shocks and A/C still work. What would YOU want for it?:hmmm:

i dont have a clue what to offer.give me a $$ and we can go from there.

So its tag your it time then? As with most any older low miles car its bound to be worth more as a complete. A while back I was kicking around the idea of parting it and some people didnt think it was the right thing to do. Granted, its not a 375 horse but its still a 440. I think these are rated at under 300 horse. But by the same token its going to live much longer BECAUSE its turned down some. When I weigh the fact that I could dump it in my runner and have a dependable driver thats unleaded compatible against the fact that I need money for reliscensing about 5 cars and pickups at the end of the year and property taxes being due I would have to say........ gimme a grand and its yours- I pull it in the snow and you get it shipped. Your turn.;)

Good thing I got my tractor running again or else I wouldnt be able to get it pulled out even. But yea- thats doable.;)
