Yea, some of you may think different but, saving lives hovering over some of the most exotic places in the world is it for me.

i agree that has to be one of the coolest jobs on the planet...

now only if the Canadians had a military with helicopters [smilie=e:
 
Canadians do!!!???? I've done tours in Afghanistan and Iraq with Canadian rescue before. They use Eurocopter Pumas.. I think I have pics of them somewhere.

No hemis, wedges or carbs even. It has a duo of GE T700 turbo shaft engines, each rated at 1960hp @22,900 rpm.

*now if I could only bring one home with me*

Can you get mounts from Shumacher for one of those to go into a B-Body???

Are you a chopper pilot or are you rescue team?
Or is it both? <---shows my ignorance of what you do.. sorry but I do appreciate that you are over there making things better.

Here's a couple more pics.

One is of a couple of Russian Hind-D attack helo's we met up with in Turkey on the way to Iraq one time.

The other two are a C-17 globemaster giving birth to our blackhawks when we came back here to Iceland (home) (kinda) Just to show the sheer size of that C-17, we can fit 3 of our black hawks in it. The c-17 is actually a smaller cargo plane too, the C-5 we can fit 6 of or helos in.

You may want to reconsider that. Think you get bad mileage now, these engines burn 2300 POUNDS of fuel each in about 3 hours. Which translates to about 350 gallons.

HAHAHA, I missed your post dodgecharger fan, about the pilot thing. :D

AMC, hahahaha It stands for "Air Mobility Command"

My Roadrunner is in storage at my parents place in MN right now. I'm actually moving soon. In about 3 weeks. So I have to pack the car, all my parts and my air compressor on the trailer and i the back of my poor abused 4.9L 4x4 ford truck and tow all if it to Tucson AZ.

I rode in a huey once-didnt like it much,less mosquitoes where you are goin so thats good. What year runner?
 
It had a noticable vibration.68s are cool,I brought home a 69 this summer,got a tranny for it this last week.The only uninstalled 440 I have is cast crank so I might have to run the original 383 for now.Gotta have a pistol grip to be a runner.Have you seen that bike Jay Leno has with the gas turbine setup from an apache in it? [smilie=e:
 
I've had the original 383 in mine since I got it, wouldn't trade it for much other than the HEMI. It's been a great engine, it responds to performance parts quite well and the road runner 383 is a little different than the run-of-the-mill 383s put in everything else. Did '69s come with a pistol grip? I know the '68s didn't.

That Y2K bike of Jay Leno's has the Apache/Blackhawk's Auxillary power unit gas turbine engine. They may have put a different HMU (hydro mechanical unit=like the metering fuel pump on a diesel engine) to give it more low RPM power (as in 10,000-17,000 rpm the engine is at 100% @ 35,000 rpm) but, the factory sundstrand apu enigne is about 45 HP. It only runs one 115/240v generator on the helos.
