Yes I am still alive but haven't been feeling good lately and have not posted much lately. I just have not felt like sitting at the computer much as I have been having alot of pain from my joints and just feel like laying down when I get home from work. I have actually been on pain pills (hydrocodone) since Febuary as I get so much joint pain from my knees , elbo's , back , hips and shoulders that I wake up during the night alot. I am not trying to complain I just wanted to tell you all why I have not felt like posting much lately. I go to a bone doctor on Sept 21 and I hope he can help some. It worries me as I may have to give up my job as a tech and take a desk job soon if I dont get much better and I am one who has always been in the shop tinkering with the cars. I am trying to get my 63 done for next summer but this has really slowed me down. I tried to get away from any pain pills and now it seems I have gotten a reation to them as they started to make my chest hurt and my heart race. Advil and Tylonal just dont help when it hurts and I have not been sleping good as thats why I am up posting at 4:30 am !! I will try to stop by and post more. Ron

Ron, this is really sad news. I know that there are no words that anyone can say that will "make it go away". But I'm hoping that maybe I can pass on a small amount of some of my "sage advice", as 6'er calls it.

i was first diagnosed with having arthritis over 25 years ago and told by my doc, at the time, that the best thing to do was to "keep active". (eventually led to a hip replacement 16 years ago)

But, it is very easy to tell from your posts that you are far from inactive, so that rules out arthritis. You may be interested in reading what they have to say at this site.

I don't claim to be any type of a doctor, but it does sound a little familiar, doesn't it?

Hang tuff Ron. And keep us posted. It may be a dumb suggestion, but have you considered light weight training? It's supposed to help with arthritis........... [smilie=e:

Hang in there.

I see a little brightness in this:
if you get a desk job, you'll have all your energy for your 63.

There's no reason to stop tinkering in the garage just because your workload has changed.

Jeez Ron - I noticed you hadn't been around much - but I din't think it was someting like this.

I dunno what to say Ron - hope you get things worked out & you start feeling better.

[smilie=2: i thought you were busy working on your car....hope you get to feel better. I think XL can hook you up with pain relievers.. [smilie=e:

words from experiance..stay as active as humanly posible and keep your spirits as high as posible too

now for the bad news you will likely run into a slew of DR's that are dumbfounded and are not shure what to do or say that you are fine and they can find nothing wrong with you
my wife has 100% the exact same problems they finaly diagnosed her with a worst case fibermialgia SP?...

good luck

Ain't that the truth.

At least my doctor looks at me and says, "Shoulder hurts, huh? Waddya wanna do about it?"

See, then I know he doesn't know or even care to find out. Never mind that it's been exactly the same pain for 4 years now.

Gettin old suks-but its better than the other alternative.I took hydrocodone for a while this spring when I ran a stick in my leg while riding 4 wheeler drunk.Thats what the VA gives you.Try Aleve. [smilie=e:

i wish it was a matter of getting old...my wife just turned 30

age dont have SQUAT to do with it

a few sugjestions..go see a arthritic DR and a nerve DR

Ron, I wish I couldn't, but unfortunately I can relate far to well with you. I really hope you can control it, I find now, 3 years later, I can shut down the portion of my body that hurts the most to the point where I have no noticeable feeling in it at all. Great for my nerve damage, but I am not sure if any type of Bio-feedback type pain removal will work for arthritis.
I do have one suggestion for you....I have recently been put on a drug thats original intent was an anti-depressant, and is more commonly used as a sleep agent ....it is called Amitriptylene. It is a great drug for guys like me, who is only able to sleep minutes at a time....I used to roll over, or move and the pain would wake me up...now I can sleep a few hours at a shot...it is heaven! As a side effect, it helps slightly with the nerve damage..... might want to mention it to your doctor. I ended up going to one of Canadas premiere pain specialists, and he recommended it. BTW, it doesn't work as a anti-depressant. ;) Good luck, I will have you in my thoughts. :)

I have been put on hyrdocotizine (sp) a while back and steriods for injuries incurred in the rodeo. From time to time my knees and arms just kill me with pain, usually when the weather changes (can't forcast the weather yet.) I don't know what I would do if the pain was constant...

I hope all goes well Ron...

Constant pain sucks. Get lots of sleep, if you find a way to....otherwise you will end up yelling at people, as I do. [smilie=e:

actualy sleep isnt that good of a thing...unless you stay "highly" active...finding that out the hard way

Sleep isn't a good thing? You wanna come over one day, when I am forkin sore and have had an hours sleep? 6'5 or not, I forkin dare yah! [smilie=l:

I would venture to guess you are tired all the time then. Highly active people use it to rest their bodies, whereas the not so active folks just stay tired after a nights sleep. I know this to, as I can lay down for about 8 hours (now 10 per the rules) and I actaully only sleep 6-7 hours without being overly tired the next day.
