He just couldn't resist on passing up this 800 triple. The price was a steal. The doctor who sold it has 20+ snowmobiles and this one was "just in the way". The suspension is worth double for what we paid for it. Jerry's excited. :giggedy: He had another '97 summit with a 740 motor built by Union Bay Racing, but had to sell it a few years back.
He plans on racing it next fall/winter to see how it'll hold up against the newer sleds.

Holy paddle tracks batman! Nice sled, we don't see many tracks like that around here, all the "fast" guys use picks.

Just in time for Spring! YAY!!!!

Tell him: NO LAKE SLEDDING UNTIL FREEZE OVER NEXT YEAR.

Seriously. Guys will try it and the sleds will do it... for a while.. unless done right... but even then.

That's a damned-nice sled.

If he's gonna race it, though, prepare him for the Rupp 440 Nitro F/A or Mercury 340 Sno-Twister that might run and hide from him on an ice oval. :D Sure, they're 30-year-old carbureted junk, but on a smooth oval the 1" of travel doesn't mean much, and they're a couple hundred pounds lighter. Those things fly.

There was a fella around here bitch-slapping 800+cc sleds with a '74 Merc 340 for a long time... they finally permanently outlawed him because he couldn't consistently keep his skis on the ground from the time he came out of a corner to the time he braked, and he "posed a danger" to the crowd. The thing was an animal, yet his young daughters drove it regularly on the trails. :D

Personally, one ride on a modified TNT640 was enough to convince me that HP sleds were a certain death sentence for me. :D

I had a ’75 Rupp nitro 340 and it was fast as hell! I loved that sled! It had no problem keeping up with the 600 and 700 cc sleds on the trails. The suspension left a lot to be desired though.
