First I have to say Cool Site! I've had a Mopar in my life since I was about 5. Well a couple other ones too, but this one was a '69 Road Runner bought by my mom, bran-new, 9 test miles practically off the dam truck (it was it the back of the dealer lot for sale prep. I was with her an I remember lookin at the door an saw the the Road Runner "Mommy it's a Road Runner!" LOL! ( ironicly the road runner was my favorite cartoon, way ta go Mom!) The car has been all over the Northwest, Mom always said "That car's been more faithfull to me than any man" LOL. In '87 tragedy struck, the car caught the rear end of a Buick, an old big one. Car sat for 8 years, thankfully inside. Got lucky an found a donor '69 Satellite with a strait nose (fenders, bumper, grill, etc. all kinds of other stuff) an not much else, did get the rear glass though. It's got the #'s matching 383 with automatic trany (rebuilt a year before the wreck) I rebuilt the engine in '96, the engine wear was amazing, minimal ring ridge in the cylinders an the guy that did the heads said they were the best set of 902's he;s ever seen. I know the car wasn't babied, it was drove the way it was ment to be but it didn't get thrashed on all the time either. Aside from the heads and the machine work everything else was put together in my garage. I did a 30 over bore, upgraded "purple-shaft" is supposedly a 440 6-pack cam, I'm not sure but it works great with the 750 AFB on the stock intake, Flowmasters through the correct tips. Still needs paint but it's Real Fun!

Nice 69. I bought my first one in 77 when I got back from Germany. I recently acquired number 11. My mom taught me how to drag race when I was 14 but we had an old ford. She took me to my first nascar race and still is a fixture at Heartland in Topeka where she now lives. Got any spare air grabber stuff? [smilie=e:

Cool car/history..

Welcome aboard! [smilie=e:

My wife and I were just out there in August. We saw lots of vintage cars. I couldn't believe how nice the metal looked being so close to salt. Her uncle lives on Orcas Island.

Welcome!

Excellent story.
I remember walking the lot with my dad and trying to get him to buy a Runner because of the cartoon. He bought a Charger instead. At the time, I thought he was crazy. Why wouldn't you want a cartoon car?

906 heads! Dam, where was my brain last nite anyway LOL. Thanks for the welcome.

Idaho, no dice on the airgraber, the car didn't come with it, I'll have to take anothe pic of the engine, found out last nite the one I got is too big to post here. My engine's too big, Gawd that makes me feel good! :) The car is actually the dark forrest green metallic. The nose is semigloss black, for now. The pic pic just caught a good angle. It's really strait though. Came with a vinyle top too, but that's pulled off and primered too. People still love it regardless. I love it too but it still amazes me, there's a lot better around. Here's another pic, I'll get one of the motor tomorrow...

Mine has the original 383 in it also but its getting a 440. I really doubt if those air grabbers make more horsepower than without, they are just sooooo cool. [smilie=e:

Matt whatever you do, dont look at any pics of Gois green machine. You will throw rocks at yours, its that sharp. I get over that way some with a friend that runs car transport if you wanna get together and swap stories. Im no big fan of anything green but that one of his makes me drool. [smilie=2:
