My ignition coil gets hot. so does the ECU.
I mean I cannot touch it for a split second.

How hot does yours get.?

oh, no did I just ask ....

we should be touching our ignition coils? have to tell me where it is. may as well know where it is and the ECU. thanks people.
oh, and lick, psssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssstssssssssssssssssssttssssssssssttt

Sometimes, after a long run on the highway, I can barely touch my exhaust header. Is my truck running too hot?

Warm yes, scorching hot..no.

Check your voltage going into the + coil terminal, it should be around 7 volts or so.

I am sure she has felt steaming piss on her face.....she was a jail bitch, remember? :D

ok , back to seriousness for one sec..:dgt:

I measure the volts ..6.2v at the positive.:hmmm:

Anyway to tell if the coil may be just toast?

Yes it runs. The coil is a blaster 2 using the resistor that came with it.
I do have shift light that connects to the neg. post and a soft touch rev limiter that also connects to the neg. post.
ECU is chrome, also you know the doide that sits on top of the ECU?

Is it supposed to ZAP , if you touch it?[smilie=2:
Was leaning on the fender , engine running and I touched it and ZZZAP!!
Man what a wake -up ! Dont recall that happening before.

What zapped you? I would say thats a good place to start, If theres resistance in that area- resistance seems to always build heat.:hmmm:

ECU should not give you a shock. both run very hot--- 6 volts is a little too low at the + of the coil- should be up around 7-8 volts.

make sure the ECU is grounded real good to the firewall- use toothed washers for a good bite to the metal.

Checked the voltage at the coil , engine running. 7 volts measure.
Checked the for grd at the ECU . 0.00 ohms measured
Measured for volts leaking fron the round diode on top of the ECU to grd and measured . 2.8-3.0 volts ......???????????

I am beginning to think the ECU is bad. and over a period of time running , I am thinking that volts are building up and bleeding off. I still can get zapped but not as hard hit when the car is 1st started and running for a short time. But When I discoved this the 1st time , when i got zapped hard ,it was after a longer drive.

thoughts.? :hmmm:
