Hmmm, interesting...

Oh, I have no doubt the petition is real, but if your signature isn't pen-to-paper it's essentially worthless. They're a total waste of time.

did we mention..we wont protect you..we will sever ALL gov funding and put up boarder crossings youll have to have a passport to come and go..and we will take everything thats ours with us...oh and i forgot to mention..youll have to pay a crazy assed import/export tax on EVERYTHING..aint got your own power stations good luck

People have been talking about the Upper Peninsula becoming its own state seperate from MI for 40 years... they don't recognize the problems with infrastructure, tax base, and multiple other problems. In the situation of outright secession, is your National Guard enough to fend off the entire US military, should they decide to attack?

SOunds like the province of Quebec here in Canada....they have been using the threat of seperation for decades...and the federal gov't constantly panders to those frog bastards. Call their bluff and be done with it I say!!

Those useless fucks piss me off to no end!

If Quebec leaves Canada, I'll be that much closer to those visits down home! :)

Well, aren't the Cajun folks descendants of the French Canadians?

There ya go.

"In 1765, during the period of Spanish rule, several thousand French-speaking refugees from the region of Acadia (now Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island, Canada) made their way to Louisiana after having been expelled from their homelands by the British during the French and Indian War. They settled chiefly in the southwestern Louisiana region now called Acadiana. The Spanish, eager to gain more Catholic settlers, welcomed the Acadian refugees. Cajuns descend from these Acadian refugees."

Maybe I'm looking at odumber's re-election the wrong way :hmmm:
Maybe I should go out and celebrate the NEW American way and see what I can get for free... welfare, disability, foodstamps etc...

Fuck it, why fight the tide of tyranny!

Someone explained how Obama guaranteed he would never get assassinated to me like this: "If you knock off Obama, then what've you got? Joe Biden?! Even the Klan and the neo-Nazis don't want that. That's brilliant strategy on Obama's part." :D

Well, I'm not sure about other states (didn't look into it), but Nevada has their own freakin' air force.

The word cajun is actually a derivitive of the word acadian... the acadians must have gotten lazy in the warmer climes.

I thought it referred to the offspring of Acadians and American Indians ("injuns")... at least, that's what I was told by the two with whom I lived. I don't know, to be honest. I'm just angry that I never got their recipes for crawdad boils. When word got around that we "was fixin' to have a 'dad bole" we'd get anywhere from 30-60 people at the house. They were a lot of fun, and man were those little bottom-dwellers tasty!

Some might be, but most cajuns are descended from the french settlers as DCF noted.

I've had some of those crawdads, from an honest-to-goodness Louisianna native. Tasty is right!!!:)

Well, as I said... that was my understanding of the term "cajun": aCAdian inJUN. I was going off the word of two of them; I've never done any research into it. They sure talk strangely, though, and seem to consider the term "coon-ass" a badge of honor. Another friend of mine just married a cajun, and even after living with a couple of 'em I have a hard time understanding what she says. While I was helping him move, I asked him how far he had to go into the "BI-yo" to find her. His response? "Wait until you meet her Dad!" She's an absolute doll, mind you... but a total coon-ass. Way worse than either roomie.

We do? I must research this. Seriously, I think there are likely some bright minds working on a Texas secession, which means Oklahoma will join, too. I've heard the argument that they need the Federal funds, but I disagree. TX is in a very unique situation. They have very little federal land, lots of oil, plenty of agriculture, and let's not forget sea ports. There's also plenty of money down there. It's not as far fetched as some might think. It's certainly an interesting thought....

I really would like to see the U.S. pull it together and go back to the Founder's vision, but until we return to making people responsible for their actions it isn't going to happen. I am not looking to remove the safety net, I'm all about getting people off that have decided to live on the net. As long as there is a person running for office that promises that you won't have to work to get what you want i.e. west coast, northeast and every ghetto/trailer park in between, we'll never get back to fiscal sanity.

I think Texas has the 8th or 9th largest economy in the world, it's also bigger than most countries. We would be able to sustain ourselves, we dump way more money in to the cesspool known as Washington D.C. than we get back, that right there is a huge perk. We also, due to our lower taxes and business friendliness, have a huge share of technical businesses based here, aeronautical companies based here and defense manufacturers based here. We also has more oil and natural gas than most if not all of the country, and without the Enviromental Propaganda Agency in our way we could get to it :D There is also a consensus that shows if Texas bailed Oklahoma, possibly Arkansas and Louisianna and other southern states would follow. And that would leave a nation of takers...
