The latest salvo in the war on gas guzzling was fired by Ram, the first company to put hybrid-electric powertrains into mainstream pickups. Ram’s move was something of a surprise, since pickup buyers don’t usually seem to like the idea of hybrids, and in any case Toyota, inventor of modern hybrids, seemed likely to be the first to do it.
