hell of a day (long read with pic's)

Blah Blah Blah
well the other day i sold some parts to a freind..so ive got some $$ in my pocket...time for a hood hunt

got up feeling good around 12:30(early considering my track record as of late with health issues)....not a cloud in the sky..and about 50 deg...figured id take the alfa gtv6 as im just running a "scout" mission to take pic's measurements and see whats out there and cost wise

grabbed the camera my coat, put the sun roof open and hit the road for boring(about 30 miles)....about 1/2 way there im at a light and up comes a jeep cheroke with some youngsters in it..they got the jump on me at the first light(this is industrial 4 lane that turns into country QUICK) as i didnt have the RPM's up and didnt dump the clutch quick ...second light i was READY...5k clutch drop put me sideways screaming the tires thru the intersection didnt straighten out till i was 1/2 way thru the intersection....pegged the rev limit and the jeep bumper was even with my arms(mid car) grabbed second chirped the tires and LEFT that jeep ...grabbed 3rd and smoked him..next light there all grins and thumbs up and "ready"..yeah right..played out same as befor..i backed down at 60 they caught up wide grins and thumbs up still trying to figure out what this little red car is LOL :shifty:

about 3/4 of the way there im getting good and warm..the sun beating down on me.....feeling like summer is good and on its way :giggedy: ...grabbed the 2 shots while doing about 55..first thru the windshield next with my hand handing onto the camera on the roof of the car thru the sun roof

got out to boring and the 54 cad hood (blue)is still there 150$..found a old triumph spit fire in the yard..but nothing else realy noteable other than a 60's chevy van......i did however spot a rusty hood sitting all by itself..owner said 50$ :shifty:(later i figured out its a 49-54 chevy hood)..im pretty sure im going out after it tomaro with the minivan

had fun driving out there its generaly the first yard i hit when im looking for stuff as the guy is reasonable on prices and has a fairly good assortment of stuff ......anyway..figured hell im out..its nice lets see what all american classics has..i know they will bend me over on a price but what the hell i can atleast get some ideas and i dont have to hide the camera..as they welcom ppl taking pic's...another 30 miles to get to all american..where i wandered the yard for a good hour or more...was amazed to see the lack of mopars..seems they have sold ALOT of pieces and scraped the small unsellable pieces..im used to seeing a good 100 or more mopars among the 1000's of cars up there...maybe a total of 20-30 mopars

anyway i ran around the yard snapped a TON of pic's mostly of faces of ALOT of 50's stuff and a few "ideas"....im weeding thru and grabbing the best pic's..as well as some "cut" mopars..2 imo RARE wheels 1 was a gold chromed small bolt crager s/s..the other???...sadly they had only 1 merc and it was boned..no hood so no referance for me...a few pontiac hoods caught my eye..saw a console that gave me some ideas about tieing into the dash on the lloyd

left all american and headed for home(33 miles)..figured id hit the local hobby shop and pick up some nitro(30$ a gal)..got to the shop at about 530..picked up some parts too and headed for home...got in a short burst with a fart can honda..stupid kids and there far cans think they they sound fast they must be...IDIOT!!!..handed him his ass with simplisity

just about home maybe 2 miles away..im smelling RACE FUEL!!!!..and wondering hmm ...im behind a nasty looking bronco 2 and im hearing a rummbling....got a look around the bronc and spy a roadrunner or a satty in b5

got home about 630ish and strangly enuf i NEVER came across a lick of traffic the entire round trip

hell of a day!:giggedy:

In the second bunch of pics, is that a 56 Ford? I coulda used that hood last December to replace the one moparguy screwed up. They're not very plentiful around here at all.

Watcha looking for a hood for?

resto if you need ANY 40's 50's 60's stuff and cant find it localy contact www.allamericanclassics.com ...they do pull and ship stuff but be ready to be bent over for it..they have a rather lage handfull of 52-59 fords...they have a fairly good and fairly acurate inventory list on there site but the pic's are generaly out of date

whats the matter XL? :p

All those pics of fairly rust free stuff is hard for us Canucka to take. There ain't nothing like that in any yards around here.
