Hee hee, got some M/T street ET drag radials....

dustergal

I have serious issues, so I'm
My husband loves me. :)

These showed up yesterday for my Duster...mounted on 15X8 Rallye rims. I couldn't believe they would actually fit when I saw them, but lo and behold they did. Wow, they look cool. :giggedy:

Hope they will help the huge traction issue I had at the track last year.

Before

After...doesn't look that much bigger, huh? Just wait til the last 2 pics.

Side by side comparison, old vs. new.

I will keep these on pretty much only for trips to the track and back, for longer trips I'll put my regular radials back on. :)

Ohhhhh, you will be loving those. They made a night and day difference for my car, money well spent. :)

those look sweet! what are your rear gears? those look a couple of inches taller than what you had on there before or is it just me?

6PK BEE, they are street legal DOT drag radials. I don't think I will have them on much for just driving around town, a buddy of ours has the same ones and he gets pulled over a lot. They do say DOT on them so the cops haven't been able to give him a ticket, but I don't want the hassle. They will probably just go on for trips to the track and back.

And BB71Challenger...the old ones were 26" these are 28", so yup, my 3.23 gears are gonna have to go I think. It just snowballs doesn't it? :D

Thinking of 3.91's, what do you guys think? I'm trying to find a happy medium between street and track and it's not easy.

Yes, 3:91's with your 340 and 28" tires would be a good balance for track and street. Those 3:23's need to go. :dgt:

When you go to the track drop the air pressure down to about 20lbs and work your way down from there.
I run them at 15psi @ the track!! Boy do they grip!!!

With a taller tire you will definitly want the 91s. Forget about freeway driving though. Around town they are hard to beat. Once you get the suspension and tire pressures dialed in you shouldnt even need to warm them first without a high stall.;)

I am hoping to find an older 70's truck with a nice 3.73 or 3.91 sure grip in it :giggedy:
My 3.23 sure grip bit the dust so I am actually using a pig from a 68 Imperial. 2.94 sure grip is good for top speed but lousy for acceleration :(

3.73's are an aftermarket ratio.

A lot of older 60's and early 70's vans and trucks came with either the 3.55's or 3.91's

3.91's sound like the way to go. Can't wait for spring!!

Here's another pic I forgot to post with a different view. :giggedy:

Judging from all that soot on the rear bumper its running way rich. Yea I know it doesnt have to get tested but that can be hard on rings and dirty up the oil. Eddybarf pukeformer more than likely.

yeah, I figured someone would notice that, it was running rich with the 360 and we haven't washed it in months. Bad me. And yup, it has a Edelbrock, 750, and I don't like it at all. We're building a Holley for it now.
