Hi all, I'm setting up an ip camera system, and it's acting weird. My system consists of an 8 port switch and a nvr. There are no controls on the switch other than the power switch. The model number of the switch is C-POE-SW0801G-AT. The model number of the nvr is GW-808N. I got these, along with 4 high resolution ip cameras and the 4 100 ft cat 5 cables, as a package deal through newegg. It wasn't actually a newegg package, but it was on their site from a 3rd party. What it does is this: It seems to work ok with one camera plugged in, though it seems to recognize it as two cameras. It will sometimes display the image from that camera in two panes on the observation window, and the screen where it shows data throughput for each channel will show 2 channels with incoming data when it's double displaying. This all happens with only one camera plugged in to the switch. With two supposedly identicl cameras, one will be listed as using the ONVIF protocol, and the other listed as using the Aebell protocol. One of them will periodically lose it's picture, and the network throughput window will show 0 data from that one, then it'll come back up again. I have physically removed both cameras from outside the house and brought them in, using completely different cables to connect them to the switch. System behavior is exactly the same as when they were installed outside. (I first suspected a bad or damaged cable.) Another thing I notice is that no matter which ports you plug the cameras into on the switch, system behavior is exactly the same. They are always shown as being connected to channel 1 and 2. When the system decides to act like there are 2 cameras plugged in when there's only 1, as I described earlier, it's channel 1 and 2. This stuff is from China, and that may be the basic problem here. I just hope it isn't junk to the point that I can't really use it. The system seems to record onto the hard disk (I supplied and installed) just fine, and I think the image quality is really good. It's just that I can't seem to get it to keep the camera data streams separate. Any help would be appreciated. If needed, I can put a couple of pictures I took of relevant screens up on photobucket and post them here.
