Guidelines for the music trivia game.

Rather than make this a free-for-all, let's set it up so this thing builds itself based on your activity and your contributions.

Here's how it works:

Each question will be in it's own thread. Try to make the questions fit in the subject line. It's okay if they don't, though.

Once a correct answer to the trivia question is posted, the thread should be closed by the person who posted the question.
THAT'S KEY TO MAKING THIS WORK SMOOTHLY.
In this forum only, you all have the ability to close your own threads.

You only get to start a new thread if you were the first to post the correct response to any of the previous questions. Post one correct answer - start one new thread. Get it?
THAT'S THE OTHER KEY TO MAKING THIS WORK.

You should NOT start threads unless you've won the right to do so. I have no way to stop you from doing it, but I'll move threads out that are not trivia questions. Not being nasty - just being tidy.

If you need to say something about the game or make suggestions or whatever, do it in another forum. That way, this will stay nice and clean for the game.

The poster of the question is responsible for monitoring it for answers, awarding the right to post to the winner, and closing the thread.

You don't have to sit there and watch for answers, but check in on your questions whenever you visit and just before you leave.

When someone posts the correct answer, reply with a message that says something like, "Fishy, put down the guitar and go outside and get some sun. You get to post the next question." Then, close the thread.

You can close your thread using the "Thread Tools" menu at the top of the thread.

You must be viewing the thread for that menu to show up. Click the "Thread Tools " and make sure the button beside close thread is selected and then click the "Perform Action" button at the bottom of the drop-down menu. The other choices will not work for you.

If a question has been answered, you could keep posting answers if you think that the first answer was incorrect. Judging the correctness of the answers is up to the poster of the question. Try to be clear on the intent and context of your question so as to avoid the possibility of more than one correct answer. If you know that's possible, try to clarify the answer that you expect in your post.

The one thing that I can't fix is, if the poster of a question has another user on "ignore", they won't see that user's posts and the next person that answers will seem to have been the first to post their answer. Sorry, that's the way it is. I'd suggest if someone is being ignored, complaining about it will just get you ignored by more people.
