OK guys, so I've mostly been hem-hawing around here this weekend, yesterday didnt do a whole ton, mostly tinkered with whatever I could mess with or felt like messing with. Mainly worked with the two 70s Trucks. Decided to get the Club Cab rolling, but it had a flat. BUT, I didnt have a roll-around.
Then I got an idea. I had two 235/75/15 Mud tries on my '77 Plymouth Demo car and they were still in decent shape. Decided to put those on the back of my '79 (to replace the car tires on it). So, I back that in front of the shop, and crawl under it to check the trans fluid in the 435 (something making noise under there!).
Come to find out I have for starters a bad carrier bearing, a bad front U-Joint at the 435 and probably two bad rear ones. Oh well, whaddya expect for a well-used Truck that was free?
Then, I jacked it up to check the brakes (no back ones, one drum MIA). Both were down to bare metal. [smilie=e: Then I rock the axle up and down. Yup, bearing is shot! ARRGGHHH! Come to find out the trans is good, the axle is bad. It needs welded up and fluid added. Debating on putting my other 9 1/4 in it, which has a good housing.
Then I checked up front, Bad tie-rod ends though the centerlink is in good shape. figures.
Then I found the frame on the drivers side cracked above the rear axle. DANGET!
So, in all reality there is NOTHING good on this Truck outside of the trans, clutch, and the Super Six setup. If it werent for needing a yard truck I'd be tempted to haul it off. BUT, I really like the Truck so when I get my title from my buddy I'll put a little $$ into it for a winter ride or something.
I DID get the Club Cab fired off but that dang float is stuck OPEN in the 2-v Holley thats on it. DANGET! Oh well I'll mess with it later. Last night I got the 440 out of the Gran Coupe project and now its hanging from the cherrypicker out front awaiting a pan swap so I can drop it into the '85 BB project. HOPING to do that and get it in.
