Hey all,
I should be out working but this head cold and the heat has drained me quite a bit so I'm resting. I am getting ready to drop the suspension out of this '88 Dippy cop car I've got for the '79 Duster. I'm needing it out ASAP so I can have the hardware blasted and then the thing pinted before being shoved under the Duster. Might end up re-doing the suspension, depends on what I can afford.
Anyway, I've already made up my mind on the motor, its going to be a '69 318 out of a RUSTY '69 Coronet, along with Magnum heads, Perf. RPM intake, and a 340 Resto Cam. Trans is for now going to be a '83 low-gear 998 lockup from an M-Body I wrecked 4 years ago. Notice I said "For now". That brings me to my next diellema.
Remember the Free '79 Truck? Well, since I'm getting an '85 Royal SE Prospector, I really dont need this one around. I wouldnt need it anyway actually, '85 or not. BUT, I really like it as a yard truck, and I really like that low-gear NP435 trans. Dont worry, that trans is NOT going into the Duster, I know better! [smilie=e:
How this ties in is that a Friend of mine (the one I got my Duster from in the first place) has a '79 318 Van. a Basic one, except that it has an A-833OD! That right, a M/T Van. That would be a perfect donor for the Duster. I'd get the Trans, bell, flywheel, etc for the car and EVENTUALLY when I re-did the interior I'd put that trans in it, as I know where a Slant wagon is with the A-833OD that would have the hump, pedals, linkage, etc.
So, do I want to trade the free pickup for the Van, or do I want to keep the Truck for a yard vehicle and source the parts for the swap elsewhere? I've got a 318 bell, but no clutch/flywheel. I can get the linkages from this other wagon, but again, I dont have a clue on that trans.
HELP!
