Gonna be headin' down to NAC territory

68R/T

I got drunk and swallowed my teeth, now
I've been wanting one of these since they first came out in '83;

Well, a couple weeks ago I reached the conclusion that life is too short to wish. So I started watching ebay for ones near me.

This one came up with a freshly re-done engine & tranny, new starter, battery, timing chain, and fork seals plus other goodies.

Plus, I love the color combo.;)

It's located in Broadview Heights OH which is about 1/4 in. on the map from where NAC lives in Sagamore Hills, OH

Looks like I'm gonna be catchin' some wind this weekend. :giggedy:

To anyone not familiar with the Yamaha Venture it's a liquid cooled V-4, shaft drive, 5 spd, rated @ 98 hp. Road tests put their 1/4 mi at 12.7 @ 105. Major kick-ass for a touring bike.:gaga:

Word on the street is that I'll be with. In the trunk or some other place.

Wait... I'll be driving [smilie=f: Seeing as we're taking MY car (ok, dont give the crap that dad owns it yada yada). Cant beat 33 mpg highway :xl:

Anybody else in the neighborhood should stop by and say hi as we swing through.

Underneath all that plastic breathes the heart of this beast;

The V-max is tuned for more performance and manages 140 hp and tips the scales at 580 lbs. That's equivalant to having 840 hp in a 3400# car.[smilie=2:

I took a V-max for a ride one time, that thing almost scared the bejesus out of me when I pushed the start button. It's like sittin' on a car engine while it's running.

Nice scooter. Wish I had known you was lookin as there has been a cranberry/maroon model sitting just down the road for sale since early July.
Now that you will have a touring bike you need to tour your way up here and go riding with me. :)

Methinks if you're only gonna be a quarter-inch from NAC, he's gonna ask you to step back a pace or two. :D

Nice ride... are you gonna be one of those tourer owners always riding around with their tinny-sounding radio cranked up playing Teresa Brewer?

Fantastic. We have some excellent back road senic routes in the area I'm positive you will enjoy. What with my busy schedule this summer I have yet to take a nice long pleasure ride this year, would be nice to get one in before the season ends.
Of course if you want to make a weekend out of it we have a guest room already to go.;)

Gonna be headin' out at midnite----'bout a half hour to go. :giggedy:

That V-Max looks mean!!! Me likey!!
I was given a '80 Yamaha 400 SE II once....got the carbs all cleaned out, took it around the block once,...still ran like chit, decided to take it apart and clean it up and rebuild the whole bike...well atleast 4 of the major welds on the frame were rusted like crazy so 69.5 turned it into go cart!!:D

After 9 hundred and fifty-something miles non-stop round trip, half on a motorcycle and getting rained on 3 times, I've reached a sobering conclusion..........

.....I'm getting too old for this shit.:(

The first bath was in western OH, just a light sprinkle for about 10 miles.
Second time a 10 min. downpour hit while I stopped for gas outside of Gary IN. Then, 20 miles from Rockford IL, a steady light rain fell for over an hour. By then it was dark and I couldn't see. All toll, I waited almost 2 hours until the roads were dry enough to finish the last 60 miles.

Overall, I have no regrets what-so-ever on the purchase. If you're into two-wheeled travel, this IS the way to go. This is the first time that I have "sat in the saddle" for a good 100 miles non-stop. And------several times in a row

Now, where did I put that Ben-Gay?:toot: .

Sounds like a fun trip despite the weather...:)
Of course you knw..once you're not so saddle sore....
:nopics:

Cool! and a saddle bag to carry your poopin' sack! You could drive for ever....bennies and a poopin sack...yessir....

Yeah, that's a mighty long trip on a bike if your not conditioned for it. Glad you made it home safe. So how many weeks of rest do you need before we go riding? :wtf:

I can't wait until I can ride the lawnmower to the post office without getting funny looks.

Nice ride!

I need to do a little tweeking of the adjustments. The previous owner was about 6'7" and everything is set for his framework.

Didja take a break and go visit NAC or were you just doing a mad scramble to get there and back as soon as possible? I'm not sure if anybody here has actually met the guy so it would be nice to see if he's real. :D

I was kinda hoping that he would chime in before the trip so we could make plans to meet.

Pretty hard to search someone down when all you know is their on-line handle, first name, car and where they work. :(
