Gear lube?

Stretch

Hey! There’s no easy button for a body like this!
Ok so I picked up this Daytona Shelby z and I am ready to assemble the drive train. Any of you nuts know what the recommended trany fluid is. It's a 5 speed turbo 2 car. Thanks for the help.

I'm guessing ATF. But I want to be sure. Also how do I determine which trany this is? I know there is a couple of 5 speeds used in these cars.

K. You in a hurry? Heading out the door soon for supper, can swing by the shop on the way home and check for ya. I'm thinking ATF also but better safe than sorry.;)

It requires 5w/30 meeting API specs SG/CD.

There are 3 models of the 5 speed and they all use the same oil.

A525 holds 4.6 pints
A520 and A555 hold 4.8 pints.

Ah crap. I thought your post was blank - but your text is white, so it doesn't show up... All I saw was "Gear lube?" and nothing else... Hence my witty retort ( if you can retort, can ya tort?)

I cant see it here either- I know gertrag reccomends synthetic in the dodge diesel trans, it would be a good choice here also mabeye.:hmmm::hmmm:

Yup. Not that suprising when you consider motorcycle gearboxes are lubed with engine oil.....

Just check the API ratings on the bottle for SG and/or CD and you are good to go.

At least it's not some special lube, consider the 97 and up Ford truck's requirement for rear gear lube.... a 75-140w synthetic that sells for @18 bucks a quart! The look on a customers face when they get the bill for axle seal replacement on those is priceless, $60 for lube alone.

Best be some left over for some anal lube. Wow. Another plus to owning a Ford I guess.
