gas prices and taking action

Well I am not naive enough to think that alone I can matter or that if a bunch of us don't buy gas one day the companies will even notice when they pull up their charts that probably have everything on a weekly basis. But I do believe if we show we are not going to have our old carefree attitude toward gas usage until it comes back down in price they will notice that!!! we have to make a commitment to a change that unfortunately inconvenience us more than just when we pay at the pump!!! Just to show I will walk the talk I drug home my old 2.74 peg legger to put in my Charger for going on the trips to the shows this summer. I have a show In San Antonio in a couple of weeks I plan to go to the Shreve port show and to Nebraska City and if I can still do what I want to do and cheat the oil company out of some money..GOOD!!! ( granted this one change only will impact my pocket and the oil company $160 to $200 but I hope I am just a piece of the puzzle as time goes on) hopefully others will realize that we have to plan our trip to the store and cut out extra trips and take a semi permanent conservative attitude to make things show up on the charts of the oil companies!!!! its all about Greed not supply and demand! our demand did not get bigger and their supply did not get less only thing got bigger was the GREED!

I still say that if a few major - market gas -stations had some oil company executives twisting in the wind from the sign out front , they would take notice pretty quick....[smilie=e:

So true.

I was just saying to my brother this morning that I would almost bet that when they say they are reducing/increasing production of oil, they don't do a damn thing. But the mere fact that they say they are doing it causes the market to react.

It's all a balancing act of "How much can we soak out of them before they get pissed off and we have to ease up to make them happy again."

Think about my first comment - when they reduce production, do people get laid off? You never hear of that do you?
When they increase production, do they hire on more people?

It all seems to be pretty stagnant in that regard. Or at least there's not enough change to warrant any time on the news or in the financial bulletins..

In any other industry, we'd hear about the repucussons of a change in production - good or bad.....

Increasing production probably just means opening the valve a little wider. The system's mostly automated, AFAIK other than the system operators the employees at a refinery are involved in maintenance.

The solution?

The problem is, the country's been influenced by the oil companies for so long that nothing's close to home and every little errand requires a car.

Not for me - although I could really use the exercise.

We chose to live in a bedroom community because we got tired of living in fear most of the time.

Now I gotta live in fear of some oil company mogul???? [smilie=e:

Burn 'em at the stake...... [smilie=e:

The Answer???

20 miles one way to work..... I dont know what would kill me first ...Asthma, polution from all the SUV's or blisters on my poor @$$!!!!!

Hey Tex Par, Go to Arlen, and look up a guy by the name of Hank Hill. He'll set you up with Propane and Propane accesssories.
Just stay away from his neighbors.

I am sure I have mentioned this before but we are selling our gas suv and going to buy a diesel compact sedan. I am also toying with the idea of converting it to vegi car. I just love the thought of free fuel for my car.
