Stuff like that scares me away from things. For example, I am considering one of those all-in-one steam shower enclosures for our upstairs bath. Something like this: http://salestores.com/ariels03.html

I found an awesome deal on one that would fit the space. I was all gung ho on it until I got a hold of one of the manuals. The first spec. stopped me in my tracks:
"The customer should install the power source and leakage of electricity according to the electric parameter."

Now, I know it's not made in North America, but none of these things are. It seems the best ones come from the middle East and start at 10K but every one has an 80% off sale all the time.

So, I don't know what to think anymore. Even at 2500 - which is what I've been looking at, it sounds like a lot, but I've figured that since I wouldn't need to tile the walls around the tub and I could just finish that whole entire wall like the rest of the room and I can do it all myself, I'm spending about the same amount of money - maybe a bit more, but not a crazy amount more. and I get a shower jet that hits ya in just that spot, ya know? :D

For some strange reason, when I looked at that shower, the theme from Get Smart ran thru my mind. :shifty:

:D There IS a telephone in the one I'm looking at.

I know it's crazy. I didn't even think about these until my sister told me about a place here in town that sells them. I looked on their website and was intrigued, but they had no prices.

Some googling led me to a few other places and the realization that a standalone unit with a whirlpool, steam, massage jets, radio, telephone, etc. isn't much more than just a whirlpool tub. Plus, wiht it all enclosed and standalone - with flex lines for hook up - I don't need to tile in the whole shower area, etc.

With that, I figure the cost is a wash but I get some extras in the deal.

Some more googling found an alternate site for the place here in town, and they're the ones asking 10 to 12 grand.... but offer up to 80% discount. Seems dicey, but I think it'll be worth a visit just to get the details.
