Fresh from the ocean!

Pretty rough  I finally looked good on my 68 440 and it is an HP engine so Jass was correct. I always thought it was a 350 horse 440 but I was glad to be proven wrong :)

missing a fan pully bolt otherwise..........looked real close to see if the rocker covers didn't just rust off.

I would be more concerned with what the inside looks like.:hmmm:

Not worth $1k no matter.:dgt: ....unless you owned That 68 GTX

Wow, if you go by his starting bid, the UNstuck perfectly decent-looking '70 HP 383 I pulled out of the 440-6 challenger ought to be worth at LEAST $4k!

What a dumbass. I gotta agree, that is the rustiest engine I've ever seen too.

paid 10 bucks for a rusted shut 383, had to chisel the pistons to get the rods (needed 1), at least i got an afb off it.

ME! It really does work.

About the only complaint that I've ever heard from anyone is that it's not fast enough. However, they had been used to using acid-based remover before so they had a different point of reference.

safest works great. The best part is that you can leave stuff sitting in it for ever and not worry that the whole part will get eaten away.

Here's some before and after pics of some of the things I did with it.

About the only one that didn't work out for me was the last one - with the pump. Technically, it did work, but I refused to leave the sucker running overnight and eventually forgot to go out and start it up in the morning. Then other stuff had to get done in the garage so I pushed this aside. I'm sure it would work if I let it take the time... it did clean things up considerably..

Cool. How much does that stuff cost? I have a bunch of stuff I'd like to soak in it if it's not exorbitantly expensive.

I'm always stunned at how bad things rust in other parts of the country. Out here in the desert, that thing would look pristine.

I got the 5-gallon pail that goes for about $100.

If you strain out the crap after every use - you can keep on using it several times over. I screwed that up with my first batch and ended up dumping it after filtering out the sludge.

If you lose some from evaporation, you can top it up with water.

No need for gloves when you handle this stuff either - unless you've got open cuts. I noticed some dry skin afterwards, but that's it.
