Free antivirus question

gomopar440

Livin' my life...one gas station at a time.
I'm about to send a laptop off to the kids and wanted to put some sort of Anti Virus program on it. What free programs out there work best and can be updated for free as well?

I also would like to hear any other suggestions as what to put on it to keep it healthy as long as possible.

I agree 100%.

I actually bought a 5-license network version of AVG two years ago.
The only reason I didn't renew it is because my ISP now gives me a free F-Secure security suite for use on up to 3 computers.

Got it! Thanks. I already downloaded, installed and updated it. It's running the virus scan now.

Anything else I should put on there?

16 and 14. It's going to be for both of them until the new one for the 14 yo arrives.

I install AVG grisoft, spywareblaster, firefox and CC cleaner on all of them I do for people and have yet to have any problems whatsoever. They integrate well and do a fine job, all freeware.;)

Yes- I forgot to mention that, IE suks the big one. Bill Gates has sold your soul to the devil.[smilie=i:

Tend -micro PC-cillian. :2thumbs:

NOTHING GETS THROUGH !!
If anything tries, it gets erased , NOW.!
Automatic updates for all new threats.
Scans up to 5 layers, all drives. Checks network security of your connections for possible openings for Hackers. and blocks them.
Antispyware program and updates .

Its all I use w/ microsofts Defender.

Try this to check your system , its free check, expecially Housecall.

You have to buy the program, buts it guaranteed. !

I used Trend Pc-cillin for a few years. Pretty good, but not like AVG. IMO.

 Sounds cool Ho. Got some good links for those? I'm tying to not go online with this computer any more than neccissary until I've got all the protection up.

Majorgeeks.com is where I usually go, I put AVG on first then update until it gets them all and then spywareblaster. Set microsoft updates to download automatically but ask before install. Never had any virus from the geeks yet.;)

I've already got AVG installed and updated. Can you get all the others at that one site?

You bet- its a mirror site and they usually give you 4 different choices for a download source. Lots of good stuff available there.
