Flat headery re-visited

68R/T

I got drunk and swallowed my teeth, now
Many of you from the Scat Pack days may remember a thread I had going about a '49 Ford pee-cup that my brother was re-doing in nostalgia hot-rod style. Well, I finally got around to taking my camera and snapping some pics.

It's almost finished, (are they really ever finished?) The main project he wants to get done this spring is swapping out the original 4.40:1 something rearend to a 9" with 3.00:1 for better highway gearing.

Wheels are Wheels Vintique 8"x15's on the rear and 7"x15's on the front

Exhaust is shorty headers with 2-1/4 pipes to the rear with Smitty's. (don't ask if you don't know)

He did his own replacing and finishing of the oak bed floor

more power;
239 ci bored .040, Offy intake with 3 Stromberg 2's, Edelbrock aluminum heads bumping compression to 8.4:1, 3/4 race cam, Pertronix and shorty headers. Original rating is 100hp, with all the upgrades the estimated hp should be about a 40% increase.

The extra guage to the bottom left is for the left head. Flatty's use seperate temp guages for each head and there's no room for 2 temp guages in the dash panel

He also did his own seat re-covering with a recover kit. Floorshift manages the OEM 3-speed

Soon to be installed 3.00:1 9-inch from a '72 F-150

I forgot to mention, while the rear is being swapped, he plans on removing some leaves from all 4 springs to put it more "in-the-weeds" :cool:

I love those old trucks. My uncle had an old ford like that. They left me in the truck at the store one time ("Don't MESS with nothing!" Now to a 6 year old, that means "explore") and I found out there was a starter button on the dash.
