I have serious issues, so I'm
Took the Duster to Milan for Friday night King of Street bracket racing. We mounted the drag radials on a pair of black painted steelies (looks pretty cool) and I drove it to the track. One day I'll clean that quarter panel off.
I was lined up waiting for the gates to open when the guy behind me started asking about my car. I asked what he had in his trailer...he opened it up and said, "I bet you don't know what this is" and I said it's a '65 Dart. He said I was the first person that ever knew what it was. LOL.
Once I got through tech and got my new participant sticker...
I dropped the tire pressure in the drag radials to 19 pounds, checked fluids, and drove to the staging lanes. I was the second car ready to run. I literally had my helmet on and was ready to drive to the burnout box when it started to rain.
One lousy black cloud was above and dumping on us. It only lasted a couple minutes but we had to wait an hour for the track guys to dry and sweep the track. By then the lanes were full and there went my hopes for several hot lapes, like I usually do. Oh well.
Did a nice burnout and launched off idle and the car felt like it was sliding all over the place. 1.97 sixty foot which SUCKS...usually I run 1.81's. Other guys were have traction issues too so it wasn't just me. I made 4 time trials and waited for them to open the lanes for first round of eliminations. Took a few pictures...
The Ford truck was Mopar powered!
Got called for first round KOS eliminations. I was lined up against a chick in a Nova. The girl's dad started talking to my husband (within my earshot) of how no one wants to race her because she's so good, always cuts .00 lights, etc. Piggy just rolls his eyes at me. Did our burnouts, lined up, and cut a good light, ran it out to the stripe and I saw her coming behind me way too fast, so I knew we were headed for a double breakout. I dumped the throttle right before the line and she flew past on a bad breakout. Win light comes on in my lane and I'm laughing my ass off. Her dad didn't made eye contact with me after that and Piggy was cracking up.
Check out that evil eye.
Second round I line up against a Ford Mustang with car number 666 shoe polished on it. :wtf: We line up and go and I see him way the hell behind me so I knew he was having trouble. I ran it out the back door and the win light comes on in my lane again.
Third round only 3 cars left. I lined up against a guy in an orange Nova. The air temperature dropped considerable between 2 and 3rd rounds and my car picked up 3 tenths! I knew I was headed for a breakout and dumped it at the stripe, but not quick enough...double breakout and the other guy gets the win light. So close...and yet so far, but that's racing. Had a blast.
