Finally got my Hot Rod

It took me long enough to find one, but I finally got it. Dragged home a 1980 Plymouth Horizon yesterday, paid $100 for it, good body, blown 1.8L engine. Stripped most of the interior out of it, and filled nearly 4 garbage cans full of junk from the car that will not be going back in. My dad has a '68 318 with a 727 short shaft tranny on it, which I'm currently working out a trade deal for it. Precursory measurements taken of the engine compartment find that it may be necessary to install the 318 halfway inside the cab of the car. Engine setback is necessary to make room for efficient radiator and large intercooler. Front doors will be lengthened 10-12", rear doors will be gutted and welded shut. All window glass will be replaced with Lexan. I just need a MIG welder at this point to really go to town on this project. I'll post pics as the project progresses.

I finally removed the dash and instrument panel yesterday. Next step is hamster...eh...I mean, engine removal. Any suggestions on rearend choice? Looking for a decent handling machine in addition to being fairly quick.

That things old enough to have the Vdub mill.I just gave one of those away.It will be a long row to hoe if you fab everything from scratch. What donor vehicles are similar to what you need? Some small front engine rear drive chassis with that body on it would help cut costs and time. You will need some kind of cage and frame to keep it together doing hard launches. One thing is for sure-it will be one of one. imo your going to have to narrow a rear end as most rears small enuf to fit under it are NOT going to handle even the mildest small block...best guess the clossest fit would be perhaps a pinto rear..but personaly i would keep it all mopar and go with a 8 3/4 from a C body and have it cut
