At least the kid is going to prison. Normally anybody under the age of 18 gets a slap on the wrist and sent on their way to perform their next felony. :doubt:
In the US, there have been numerous convictions of kids much younger than 18 (17 in MI) being tried and convicted as adults. Generally they'll go to a high-security juvenile facility until their 18th birthday and then get transferred to a regular prison.
