Exercise in frustration...

I tried to post an ad in the vbClassifieds. I didn't have a specific dollar amount, since I was advertising a couple of different cars for sale in one ad. When I went to submit the ad, it said I needed a specific price. So, OK, I'll put something--but only because it had to have a number. Of course, it didn't just give me the opportunity to enter the price... and the info I'd spent all that time typing out was lost. So to post it, I'd have to re-type the entire ad.

I guess I'll try the local paper. Less frustrating.

Not sure what to say..

Posted 3 ads - 2 as admin and 1 as my test user with limited rights.

all three posted with no price, "0" for a price, and I was able to go back and edit the ad.

AH! You put words in the price field!

I was able to generate the error message doing that..

I see what you mean how the text box gets cleared..

I'll see if I can get a fix for that.

For now, remember to use numbers in the price field. (I'll try to add some text to that form so it warns you to use numbers)

and, as a general rule, if I type in a ton of stuff, I always hit
CTRL-A to select all
then
CTRL-C to copy

just before I hit the submit button.

Just in case...

This forum runs on a shared server with I don't know how many other hosting customers. Stuff can happen. The database server is another computer all together. It can burp. Links can be broken. in general shit can happen.

All that said, this site and the others that I have running on this account don't even come close to hitting the limits. The only exception is when a hiccup causes a script to run too long, then we get that CPU quota exceeded message - but even that clears itself after a few minutes. That exists to keep any one host account from hogging all of the server resources.

I got off on a tangent there, and I forget where I was going with this...

anyway, thanks for pointing out that issue. I'll look into it.
