where everyone you know just pisses you off??? Everyone is sooooo full of drama lately and I can't take it!! I'm pretty close to snapping on a couple people because of their shit lately and I really don't want to have to do that, but hopefully it might help them pull their heads out of their asses! Ok well I just needed to vent....I'm done....I hope! :helpme:

seriously man you need to addopt a "meh" to everyones problems and gossip...only things that get to me any more are if its truely personal
 
When people go all drama queen on me, I just wait until they're done and ask, "So, what'll fix this up for ya?"
Force them to tell you what they want rather than what pisses them off. Most of the time they don't want anything but they don't realize it until they've been asked. When they realize it they tend to diffuse themselves.

Yes. That can be a problem when you're dealing with women - no offense - as they tend to think differently about "issues."

Men, generally, need to fix things. Some things can't be fixed.
Women don't necessarilly need a solution to a problem, just a channel to vent about it.

That leads to an anwser I often get to my queston above: "I just needed to vent. That's all."

My answer is usually, "Well, you just did that all over me. I'm glad I could help. If there's anything else, let me know."


The point is: Don't get sucked into their drama. You just end up with another pissed off person - you.

It isnt' so much I'm getting sucked into their drama....ok in a way maybea bit since it does irritate me so much, but more the fact I'm getting sick and tired of them bitching about the same stupid shit!! And they won't shut up about it...so I'm just not going to talk to them for a while and kinda avoid them....maybe they'll get the hint, if not...well...:dgt:
 
I read an advice columnist, a woman named Carolyn Hax. A portion of her questions come from people who constantly endure bitching from someone about a situation they have on their hands. Carolyn usually advises them to kinda direct the conversation by asking questions like "so, what do you intend to do about it". It's supposed to get people to realize that they're banging their head against the same old wall, and maybe clue them in that the bitching is getting tiring. I suggest that as a good way to handle it-gets the point across without being ugly.

Seriously though. I deal with all kinds of people that try to make their little problem my emergency. You just have to set some rules for yourself and stick to them. If you ever have to break your own rules, do it reluctantly and make sure they know you're doing it as a favour to them. They tend to stop bitching right away when they realize that you're doing something for them that you would normally never do.
It helps if there are other resources that are available to them that they can use instead of just venting on you.
That's where questions like I mentioned above and what v8440 said come into play. Rather than getting all riled up, simply and calmly ask, "What are you going to do about it and is there any specific way that I can help?"
That's right about the time they realize that they are just spewing for the sake of spewing and have no definite goal in mind.
Or they say, "You don't understand" and storm off.
At that point you can tell them to explain the problem or let them go.
Either way, it's still their problem and not your drama.
