Escanaba, Michigan show.

That's Mopar_man's link.

I didn't post on it because I took pics of exactly 3 cars, the shortened wagon being one since it's my friend's car. Car shows don't excite me anymore even if there's a strong Mopar presence; in this case there wasn't so I was even less interested. Lots of the same cars I of which I have pics from 2003; why take the same photo twice?

Though overall I had a good time at the show, much of it was depressing for me in talking to former customers. Apparently things ain't good at my former store, and that bums me out big-time. From what I gather, my old boss doesn't realize the value of having an enthusiast on the counter, and hasn't had one since Lance left in 2009... just order-takers and fuck-offs is what I'm told.

I still like car shows - both attending & participating. They are a great way to relax in a stressfull world, as long as you pay no attention to the trophies & judging and such BS...

I like event like the one I'm going to tommorow better:

It's called the Heritge fun run. It's kind of a "poker run" where all the participants put $5 into the pot and then drive from checkpoint to checkpoint and pull a numbered chip at each. Car that accumulates the highest number wins the pot. The checkpoints are scattered around the city and are all located in the parking lots of an old folk's home, so the residents get a mini-car show every time a group of cars show up. A couple of the homes have made quite an event of it, havng a barbeque to coincide with it and serving refreshments to the drivers.

Of course the Demon is still down, so I'm riding shot gun in my buddies '55 pontiac...but I still don't want to miss the fun.

That sounds like a great way to get out in the cars AND yourself in to the community.

Now an event like that I'd really enjoy. Driving the cars instead of having them on static display would be so much better.

We used to do that in the VW club I belong to. It was always a lot of fun.
I'm not sure why we quit, just kinda stopped doing it.
I'm sure it was a site, 15 VWs of varying models and vintage, putt-putting around town all at once. :)

That was the first one I'd ever seen as well. Goofy setup, as the back part of the disappearing roof was a convertible-top affair, and the front was a targa panel.

Escanaba is the end of the world, y'know....

....You drive n' drive n' drive along US 2 encountering shady characters and scary creatures as you go, then you come to the end of the world....with only miles of water ahead of you.:shifty:

Sault Ste. Marie was similar. I lived there for 6 years! :D

that sundancer setup was a custom thing back in the day..ive also seen it done to a celica..same logos and parts

as for the cruise..hell yeah its more fun..you run a cruise then a show the next day..THATS the way to do it..ill post up the micro stuff as soon as i can...chasing 17 micros with a 22foot trailer with a ramcharger was a good way to spend a day

The Good Spirit lake event that I like to attend (and that I'm hoping to get the Demon together for) takes it a step further. Participation gets you entrance to the Provincial park, free camping at the overflow campgrounds (Which means two nights of partying) and both days start with a hour and a half - long cruise of the park and nearby resort before pulling in for the show on the lakeshore.

You didn't get far enough to hit the Soo, did you? That would have required you to drive n' drive n' drive n' drive n' drive. If you think it's a long, boring drive to Escanaba you'd have been in absolute hell on the run from Esky to St. Ignace. There is literally nothing from Man I Stink (Manistique) to the home of the Mackinac Bridge, and the next leg to Sault Ste. Marie ain't exactly a world of wonderment. :D

This was another one of my former customers' cars. This guy actually bought an exhaust manifold from Stretch via me for an HP A-car (I think it was a '74 Duster 360/4-speed). He was ecstatic to have a Mopar guy on the counter, but stopped going to Auto Value shortly after I moved to my current store.
