What's a complete '72 440/727 with a steel crank worth? Unmolested, ran pretty good, has less than 100k on it.

Have a similar '72 400/727, basically the same details as the 440.

In my experience, $0. Well, that's not quite true-scrap value. I was unable to sell one in a running '72 new yorker. I offered to pull it out for a small fee, I was even willing to ship. It's improving the life of the Chinese people now. I say scrap the motherfucker and don't give it a second thought unless you have someone with cash in hand ready to buy, someone who is not shucking and jiving about it.

i have to agree...and its why i scrapped most of my engines...if youve got room to sit on it..stuff it in a corner and forget about it if its a runner...if its not...then scrap ity

They're both runners. I had someone looking to trade some stuff, possibly a truck and I was looking for an approximate value. No scrap, I have plenty of room and I'll stick them both in the garage and wait.

Going to look at a '74 W200 club cab, long bed complete except the 440. Possibly swapping a 440 block, the 400 and a 9mm Ruger. Post up pics and details if I can make it happen.

The guy with the truck is a freakin' tool! I've been trying to get over to look at it for 3 days, every time I try to communicate with him he doesn't get back to me for 3-4 hours. By that time I've got other things going on. Guess I'm kind of looking around again.

I did find another crew cab, former USAF truck, 2wd, minus motor for $1500, straight and clean body.

Resto told me there were a few inquiries for my 71 New Yorker when it was outside his shop. $1000. They were after the drivetrain, and likely to do some parting out too.

But I'm not saying that's what they're really worth. Just anecdotal info...and times have changed.

Around here, a decent 440 core runs around $500 and up... steel or cast crank doesn't seem to make much difference to the street guys.
Big block transmissions seem to be everywhere.
