From press release

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), which promotes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has taken over the Asian Le Mans Series.

Created in 2013, the series is supposed to represent the Le Mans concept of endurance in Asia by staging similar races to what is seen in Europe.

But grid numbers have been very low during these first two years.

"Motorsport is growing fast in Asia. So the ACO is keen on promoting endurance races over there," explained Automobile Club de l'Ouest president Pierre Fillon.

"After two years, the Asian Le Mans Series is not where it should be in terms of grid numbers. It's not about shutting it down. We fully believe in its potential.

"But to keep it going, changes must be made."
