End Of an Era

Well today is the end of a career for me. After just over 30 years with Xerox as a Service Proffessional I am hanging it up and retiring. Time to move on to the next portion of my life and not be at the beck and call of the Crackberry I've been carrying. No more in the middle of the night callouts after working all day. No more working for a manager that says he is making changes just for you, when it is only to take money out of your pocket and put it in his. Time for a change and to get back my personal life. Rant off. :nanna:

Congratulations. I am jealous, but I am happy for you.
I hope retired life treats you well.

Congrats! You'll find that retirement is great! 6 Saturdays and a Sunday each week. Enjoy!

Which one is Sunday???

Welcome to world of re-tarment.

The biggest hurdle is usually adapting the retired attitude of.........."I don't have to....."

That sentence can be finished with many words or phrases, i.e., "use an alarm clock, punch a clock, go out in crappy weather, kiss the bosses butt", etc :dgt:

Well the day is done. Handed in my company van, laptop, tools and crackberry and now I have less weight on my hip and shoulders and an empty slot in my overfilled driveway. Now for a little time off and then out to find something part time that is more at my control then a self centered profit taking boss that would like you to think every change he makes is to be for your own good. I know I won't miss the 3.am wakeup calls to go and fix a machine after working all day long and the endless upper politics and pressures to do more with less. I deffinately looking forward to getting some family time back without the interruptions from the crackberry.

Thanks for all the well wishes. :bravo:

Conrgrats on your retirement!! :2thumbs:

Wow your description of the your former employer company dynamics sure rings true with my current place of employment. And I only have another 20 years to go.........:doubt:

We're supposed to be that way. It's in the handbook.

:)

Congrats on the walking away. Enjoy your relax-time.:quaff:

Mike , his is a one of a kind handbook. You could never be what he is and nor would you want to be. He started as a service rep way back and couldn't make the grade or fix anything and was the son of someone of importance and never had to pay for his many downfalls. (this from his own mouth) We had to sign of on a bussiness ethic policy every year but I don't think he knows the meaning as he has done a lot of unethical things in the years I have know him.

 Congrats Dusterman! Sounds like you deserve it. Enjoy every minute of your "retardment"! :giggedy:
