Don't growl at the customer...

What a ************* day!! Long story short, aside from the fact we were pretty busy and my boss was really little to no help unless I asked him to do something...it was just me and him til 1pm and we open at 8am! Anyways, I actually had a customer yell at me for giving him the correct part! Front brake pads for an '07(?) Chrysler 300. I looked it up in my system, got the part number, fetched said parts like a good little employee, opened the box to show the customer the condition of said pads, he compared them to his pads that he brought in.... and tried to tell me they were the wrong part! I compared new to old, side by side, top to top, bottom to bottom... everything was 100% identical but he still insisted they were the wrong pads. I kept a smile on my face, cool, level and calm tone of voice, and just took his verbal abuse. He finally left with the pads I gave him though. Just some old guy looking for a reason to be a **** is all I can figure! :doubt:

Obviously they were wrong... the friction material was far too thick. The backing plates may have been a different color, too. :D

Customer service rocks, huh?

If by "rocks" :fishy: you mean :wall:, then yes. :D

Get used to it, homeskillet. That's the life.

When you become the guy they turn to rather than the guy at whom they bitch, well, there's your reward. I'm pretty sure that cranky old bastard will be looking for you the next time he's there. He won't say it, he won't admit it, but he's gonna be lookin' for The Fish... and then you'll know. That's pretty damned rewarding to me; I hope it's the same for you because you're never gonna get rich doin' this. :wall:

I know it's part of the biz, and I have no problem with it for the most part but I just don't handle belligerent people well. I bit my tongue and kept my filter in place for the sake of my job and customer service...yadda...yadda...yadda... Today was just a bad day. There's more stuff that contributed to the day but none of it really important. Murphy decided to invoke his law in our store today.

P.S. I resigned myself to the fact I'd never be rich years ago!! :D

Good for you keeping your cool.

I worked at a veterinary years ago. I loved the animals, hated the owners. :D I had one woman who was very nice when she picked up her dog from grooming. Six MONTHS later she called us in a rant saying we have shaved one of her dog's legs wrong. I told her to go pound sand. She told my boss what I'd said, and he backed me up. It's a good thing I don't work with the public anymore, lol.

You did the right thing Fishy. You know who I work for, and I drive a big bill board and have to smile and wave at the friggin dumb a$$ people on the roads. No finger, or verbal abuse for me.
