Doin the happy dance....

thrashingcows

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing...so I'm
I had to take the wagon through emissions testing (Air Care) before I can re-insure the car for another year....$23 if you pass or fail and then another $23 to re-test...:doubt:

So the last time I had to go through with an old C-body, my 70 Sport fury, I failed 6 times before passing.

I can say I was a little apprehensive...I set the carb back to the 1 1/2 turns on the air fuel mixture screws, then put in about 10 gallons of the 94 Octane fuel with 10% methanol from the local Husky/Mohawk gas station, added a litre (quart) of Methyl Hydrate to the tank, then hit the highway for a good 40 minute run.

Went straight to Air Care and was excpecting to fail and use this as my pbase line for figuring out what needed adjustment and/or repair. Well the ran it through and it passed with flying color!!:giggedy:

I said to the lady when she handed me my pass that I was expecting a fail not a pass!! [smilie=::

If it'd been Jester posting about the happy dance, I wouldn't have looked. Denatured alcohol added to a close to empty tank works great for smog. It's the same stuff we sell for air dryers on the big trucks.

Yup know all about air line antifreeze....:p

Oh and thanks for that mental picture of Jester doing "his" version of the happy dance....[smilie=f:

Good job! I didn't think the Old Dart would pass, either... But she did with flying colours :) It's nice to know these old tanks run better than we think

Don't worry, I won't show myself dancing the happy...

Well, I guess we should consider ourselves lucky here in Ontario........only '89 and newer vehicles have to pass emissions. Good thing, not only do we have the '68 Val, but also a '79 Dodge Class C m/h.
But of course, there is talk that we will soon have to have everything tested.
Congrats on the ol' wagoon passing, Mr. Cow. :giggedy:

What are you shooting for emissionwise anyway, some arbitrary number your gubbamint made up or factory specs? It wouldn't surprise me to find out Mom fudged the emission numbers to impress.

Anywhoo, good to know you were legal for the 10 minute test. :2thumbs:

So true aint it....guys mess with carbs, timming, ignition etc, and then obviously the fuel you use, all in the name of passing a 5 minute emission test...what a scam..on both sides!!

The whole damn test is a money scam. FL started to do it without telling people, it lasted about 2 yrs. We got it on the state ballot and voted it out.
