display drivers...help

I have a problem with this puter...I've removed all the display drivers and everything ATI related...how come I still have screen resolution ?
everything works it just draws a little slow...
I figured I'd up date the drivers and play a game tonight... because before when I went to start up a game it gave me a warning that the video card couldn't be seen or something along those lines...(I know I'm a well spring of information)
anyone have a clue as to what I'm talking about...I've reloaded the drivers a couple of times and the game will not interact with the video card.So I figure it must have something to do with the screen size being unchanged...every other time I've changed drivers once there out the screen size is 400x600 or something along those lines but now it's still 1200x1600 with no drivers in it...
any help would be muchly appreciated.

When you re-installed the drivers did you use the original installation disc?

You may want to go to the manufactors website and download the latest drivers.

Winblows has a bunch of generic drivers that cover most resolutions is why you can still change that.
If you; right click on 'my computer' then properties > hardware > device manager > display adapters - it will tell you what model video card you have.
Then go here http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.HTML and download the latest package.

I've gone to the ATI site and downloaded the latest drivers for this video card but even after I've installed them (with McAfee disabled) I get this warning that *open GL compliances issue* download latest drivers? or something about open GL ???

Thanks for the input guys I think I'll just go and dyno XLs bullet tonight..I've had just as much fun as I can stand playing with computers..

thanks again for the help

Open GL is a graphics language used primarily by games to write instructions directly to the video card.

If your card is not capable of understanding those instructions, the game will not run.
The is likely doing a test to see if the card can deal, and finding it can't and giving you the error.

You need to check the model number of the card against the description on the ATI site to see if it supports Open GL - even then, it can be a bit of a crap shoot with games.

DCF...

Thanks buddy...but I gave up on it...This puter use to play games no problem with this card ...

You know if you were a real friend you'd just pop over here and fix this thing...shouldn't take you more than 10 min...:p

I don't think that the predicted forecast has been correct all summer...
If we get that forecast I'd be VERY SURPRIZED...5 days of sun...it would be a first.
I haven't even had the initiative to finish putting the GTX back together because of the shitty weather we've had.
But if it holds true I could be going for a drive this weekend.
