Yep the garage is a mess :D and there is a 2X4 holding up the front.

Pretty clean inside, maybe that should be surprisingly taking note of the fram filter on it

Planning on new oil pan gasket, timng chain, freeze plugs (couple leakers) and water pump before it's dropped in the Charger

thats pretty clean actualy

who made those VC's?....at first glance i thought they were cal customs but cal's always have a punchout spot for a pcv valve that also has there logo on it

the scoop aactualy looks like a cal custom part as well...i..at that price i should see if a set of 350 coveres would fit on my old ford yblock....i want finned aluminum sooooo bad...and i flat out LOVE the cal custom peices...cleanest and nicest style for all makes across the board imo

for that matter id probably put money on BOTH the mopars above and that vette set all being cal units......seems only a few engine types got the lil cal logo pcv spot

In the 60's, when cal custom was at its height, the majority of engines on the street still used the "breather-in-block" system. PCV's weren't mandated until '63. When bought new many valve covers were made specifically for PCV's or not.

It's grungy, I'll get it outside after work and you can see, poor light hides a lot.Bought the covers in a parts deal when I was still in Jersey. They have a "Poeta Bros. Speed Shop" sticker on one of them. They were/are located in Delaware, there are no markings on them, and on the inside "Early Chrysler" is cast.

I'm just going to pick up 2 twist in breather caps, that's all I need correct? Or do I NEED a PCV valve?

If so the Ford's had a breather that twisted into the valve cover and held one, 351M/400 I believe.

pair of twist ins is all you need...you sure there isnt anything else cast inside of them?

Clean as whistle in there, nothing but Early Chrysler cast, stamped or otherwise logo'd :hmmm:

I'd get the one with the PCV hole, personally.

For sure!

Gotta run PCV with breather unless you run road draft tubes.

I kinda thought that, but wasn't sure. Going with this

Dirtier pics, this is after degreasing once...

That's exactly the cap of which I was thinking, 71. In fact, the ones I sold came with the grommet for the PCV valve (not installed).

I shoulda snapped the pics before I cleaned it, there was 1/4" of dirt, oil and grease before soaking it in Purple Power and hitting it with the hose.

I just finished installing the new pump on the PW, I ordered the freeze plug kit, I'll grab paint and stuff tomorrow and hopefully have it looking good this weekend :)

Seriously contemplating a mild cam and definitely picking up a D/R timing chain kit.

i hope you got the brass(copper?) freeze plug set and not the steel......steel just doesnt seem to last as long as it used to ....i wont put steel plug in anything if i can help it

I ordered my cam kit, a Summit Racing sum-k6400. After it comes in I'm heading to AutoZone for my gaskets and double roller timing chain, they sell the Edelbrock for $33. I need the carb kit, waterpump, distributor and tune up stuff.
