Decision time

Trying to find my weed and
Looking for some 'nuts input here. The Dart currently under construction is still 2-3 summers away from seeing the road and I'm looking for a good running, solid summer driver/cruiser so's I don't miss out on all the fun. I've got things narrowed down to 2 candidates unless something better comes along but my $ range is limited.

#1 is a 64 Chevy Bel Air (I know :shifty:), 327, 2 speed powerglide, runs sweet and is totally solid. The fact it has 4 doors doesn't really phase me either. This one is a divorce sale and is going for a song :)

#2 is a 78 Aspen, 318 auto, also runs nice, is solid and is going for $500 bucks less than the Bel Air. Doesn't need the minor electrical attention the Chev does either.

Now I dig the Mopar thing as much as the next guy but wasn't everything cool in '64?

I'm leaning that way and just wanted to give 68 a chance to rant about brand X as much as anything [smilie=i:

PS. Anyone selling a decent driver for $2000 or less? Both of these are under that mark!

four doors are gay. ask Orvil, he has some. :D
Do what yah gotta dude....it is your ass in the seat.

as much as i hate to say it...id grab the bel...its a 60's it will get a a lil attention and being its a 64 ...some body will want it for a lowrider

Either one would be nice, but I'd take the Aspen. If it really is solid, they are nice cars.
60 era Chevies seem to be everywhere, but when is the last time you spotted an Aspen or Volare?

The Aspen. Better handling, more comfortable and easy to live with every day. I've had both and the Chevy was a beached whale compaired to the nimble little Aspen. ;)

---------GAY? a second class ride is better than a first class walk. and why is it all your cars at your place have 5 doors? but you park them inside.. so your not out of the garage yet ( closet) :bwuhaha:my 4 dr,s are classified as DOWNTOWN cars. classy-----and they all have windows so there goes the air conditoining:bwuhaha::bwuhaha:your just jealous cause i have more doors to open? look at it as an oportunity- the more doors you have the better the life:bwuhaha::bwuhaha::bwuhaha:ORVIL

You know I thought about this while I was at work last night, you asked like there was a REAL decision to make. ASPEN again!!!!

i have to agree with everyone except the guy that said the bel... aspens arent the best lookin Mopars.... but they're pretty damn cool themselves...

Well, I went to look at both again and I've had to rule the Aspen out :( Was able to do a better crawl around with some jack stands and there is some VERY crusty spots on the inner frame rails. I simply refuse to invest in frame repairs when I've already got a full resto on the Dart under way.

On the bright side, a 66 Thunderbird with a 429 has thrown it's hat into the ring :toot:. Guess I'll have to wait for the pics and go for a look see.

Understand, I'd love to find a streetable V8 Mopar between '60-'72 without sacrificing my first born but the Mopar market is batshit right now. There's a guy in town here trying to sell a '65 4 door Valiant in ok shape with a /6 for $5000. Everyone thinks they own gold fer Chrissake

I vote Aspen.
I had a 76 Aspen R/T and loved that car!:bravo:
Looked just like this one.
