Day jah vous(no damn it I ain't french!)easy to tell huh!

RUSTY Cuda

In over my head!
Well I got a little surprise when I started pulling apart the rear on the 73, remember my brake shoe fiasco [smilie=e: well seems someone has been there too, 10' brakes with one 11 inch spring! [smilie=e: & damn, they left it like that!
notice that odd shaped hole just above the spring!

rubbing on the actuator & bound up in the other spring, oh yea, excuse the mess in there, what I need will be shinny in no time! [smilie=e:

Wonder how many so called mechanics have done this, if I had done this car first I may have thought it was normal, well I guess it might be, seeing as they keep giving out the wrong shoes, but def. not correct!
wonder if something would eventually give out if left like that?(no the rust crap, the incorrect spring!) [smilie=e:

To test a brake spring just drop it on the floor. If it rings, pitch it. NAPA has complete hardware kits for around 20 buks per axle. Hard to tell if they are right from those pics but you always install the longer shoe to the rear on a top anchor pin setup.

All I'm saving outta that mess is the spacing plates, napa eventually supplied the right shoes(after 4 tries) & the right cylinders(after 2 tries) & they actually got the drums & spring kit right(for the 74) gonna hafta locate the springs for the emergency brake though, not in the kit & I have a broken one!
year one has already supplied me with all new hard lines & the 3 hoses, so napa will get the order for the other stuff & a rebuilt master also! (someday, soon I hope) Rich.

I dont think the chain is in your area but the place with the best prices and most inventory around here is Les Schwab Tires. I party with the service manager too so that might have something to do with it. [smilie=e:
