Dakota ready for the track....

dustergal

I have serious issues, so I'm
did a little more work to the Dak over the past few weeks. Added a hoodscoop, and we made a tonneau cover out of a large roll of vinyl that my father-in-law gave us a few years back. Total cost for the cover was $20 (for the snaps)...not bad.

We also put on a new coil, plug wires, and I changed the oil...we're planning on going to Milan for a test-and-tune April 25th, can't wait. :giggedy:

wish I had a better pic of the tonneau cover but this is all I have.

The front rims that are on it are 14X4.5 with a 2" backspace. We do have a pair of Ansens for the front that match the back ones, but they are 4 inch backspace and it kills the turning radius, which is already severely limited due to the headers. You can see them hanging down, lol...

I would like to have the Ansens all the way around but that ain't gonna happen for a while, if ever.

We didn't do too much to the engine, we ran thinner gaskets on the heads (blew one out last fall) and changed the intake. So far we've only started it up and ran it up and down the driveway a few times, then did a quick leak check on the intake and it had sealed up fine.

We'll let you know what it runs at the track for comparison. 1 week from Wednesday.

The day before we take it out I plan on doing some more weight loss. The interior is still in it and I want to do some more swiss cheesing to the inside of the doors and radiator core support. I can probably lose another 50 to 75 pounds. I think wifey will squeeze an extra 10th than me cuz she is buck and a quarter lighter than me.
