Curious spedometer question

Just wondering if anybody knew a place that could change a spedometer from mph to kph (kilometer) Instead of having a paper chart on the dash telling me how fast i am going when going 50 mph.:hmmm:

Just thought about that today while at work and changing a metric print into an imperial print. Being Canookia is a metric country and all.

*runs back to work to measure everything in imperial* :hmmm:

Maybe.
I see a van around here all the time that is labeled with something like Doc speedometer or something like that.
I'll see if I can find some more info for you.

hell if you can find a good vynle printer/cutter you could have a new face sticker made pull the needle and slap it on..simple as that

this is what i was thinking too. There was a company at Moparfest that was doing something like that. But be damned if i could find their business card.

May have to do some history digging.

That would be the easiest route, no question.

This reminded me of a fun little anecdote: Many years ago I saw a super-high-MPH speedometer for a '68-'70 B-body Rallye dash for sale at a car show. It read to 240MPH (!) and read "CERTIFIED" beneath "MPH" like cop-car speedos read. At first, we mistook it for a metric unit (150MPH = 242KPH) and just looked at the other stuff, but the seller directed us back to it. The odometer showed less than 1/10th of a mile, supposedly from the certification process. It was NOS, according to the seller, and an experimental piece they considered for the Charger 500/Daytona/Superbird. It was sitting atop a period-correct Mopar box, but there was no part number on it. It was definitely not a decal and there was no fade or yellowing. He had a couple of NOS 150 B-car Rallye gauges there; if it was a fake it was very-well done. I've never seen documentation or even heard rumor of such a thing, but I never say never. Remember, I had a set of 4.30 gears for a 9¼" Mopar! :D

Yeah, you bastard, you did. I'd kill to have a set of those to put in my '09 hemi truck! I also have a caterpillar forklift with what looks like a dana 60 in it. It would be hilarious if it had a set of those in it and I didn't even know it. Speaking of speedometers, I have a for-real NOS speedometer in kph. I don't know what vehicle it's for, but it's damn sure brand new.

Those gears went for nearly $500 on eBay. To my knowledge, they were the only set in existence... and no one's ever been able to explain to me where they originated. All I can say is they were brand-new (never installed) and that I never got more questions on an auction in the years I did eBay. I think I ended up posting more pics of that ring and pinion than I did for all my other auctions combined.

The buyer was ecstatic, for the record. He got what he paid (dearly) to have.

is it a rally spedometer?

Also looking for a good tach for the center pod of the rally dash

we talking a-body "cuda" dash?.......i wasnt aware of any of the others with the "vac tach"....id like to see a shot of that if its not the a......

ive got a tach you can look but not touch :p...also got the clock and the vactach and the plug.......if we are talking a-body i can walk you thru how to mod a sw or autometer to fit without modding the dash in such a way to look stock

I have an a body dash i believe from a bare-ass-cuda. Will have to take a pic. I have everything for gauges but the tach and just debating for kph.

I passed up on a complete a body rally dash with vac pod and with the frame at a swap meet. Kicking myself a lot for that. (speedo in mph)

Planning to modify my spare 67 dart dash frame to accept the rally dash. Mainly for tach reasons. I don't want to mount a tach up on the steering column.

I have a complete '67 Rallye dash in a Barracuda if you're interested. Yeah, it's MPH but we'll pull the whole structure if you need it.

yeah it would be easier to mount the whole dash frame than mod..god knows ive got spare frames here as well

as for the tach trick..really all you have to do is take the aftermarket tack yank the bezzle and glass/plastic and then test fit it in the hole....for some you will need to put 2 rounded notches in the cup of it to clear the turn signal tubes....after that its just a matter of making a backing plate and a bit of a spacer...and honestly you can use a whole bunch of electrical tape for the spacer via wrapping the cup of the aftermarket tach

that black dart SHOULD have come with a cuda dash frame...i sent one along with that cluster....so you might want to dig around....i made damn sure it was a descent cluster and had a dash frame for it to go in...and im willing to bet it could be spotted in one of the pic's just prior to it leaving my yard...no the cuda frame wasnt bolted in....but tossed into a box or in the trunk......there was 2 dashes...a "smoothed" stock dart dash frame purple and yellow primer...(as it was when i got the car) and if memory serves a black cuda frame..altho it could have been red

I only have 2 frames. The smoothed one and the one i pulled from a 69 dart. Unless i have it hiding somewhere .... hmm

May have to do some digging to double check, but i dont remember any other frames.

i HIGHLY recomend digging....cause id be VERY VERY supprised if you didnt have it and just didnt know it..unless it got burried at xl's...or with the charger?(where is the charger anyway?)...was the cluster still boxxed up when you got it?
