Ok i have been somewhat looking at the Hemi rams as of late .. just because my current dakota does not carry a car seat very well.

i see they have never made a standard transmission for the Hemi trucks. Well today i was driving my dads 6 speed diesel. Now if i were to find a junked diesel ram with a tranny... could i take that transmission and use it on a hemi motor?

yes i understand all the adapter plates and all that fun ... but would it be worth it? or am i just barking up a retard tree?

You can make more power with the Cummins for a lot less money, so why bother?

And no, the diesel transmission won't bolt to anything but the diesel... except possibly a V10. I don't know about the V10, but the diesel uses an SAE trans pattern, which is why it will mate to a PowerStroke transmission which has the same pattern.

Regardless, if I had need for a truck I'd be shopping diesel. Period. More torque, better economy than the "Hemi" (which is really a poly anyhow). Would I put a late Hemi into my car? Yes, but for truck duty the Cummins just makes a ton more sense.

Really? I'm pretty sure that when my buddy was shopping trucks the HP gas engines commanded a higher premium than the oil-burner he ultimately bought. I don't know for sure, of course, because it wasn't me.
