Converting VHS tape to computer? How do I do it?

dustergal

I have serious issues, so I'm
Keep in mind that I am NO computer genius, and we're still running Windows ME (I KNOW, I know, it sucks!!)

Anyway...I've got a bunch of video footage that I took on our old 8mm camcorder that I put on VHS tape (you can see we don't upgrade electronic stuff often!) and now I'm looking to get it onto the computer. Someone told me to use this program called Dazzle (ebay link) but I don't know how good it would work or even if it would work with my computer.

Anyone done this? What's the best and easiest way to go about it? Thanks!

Get yourself a Dazzle DCV 150. You can find it at BestBuy or Circuit City, it works real well, that's what I use...

You have Windows ME? And it's still running....I don't believe you.:D

LOL!! I can barely believe it myself. :shifty:

Re-reading my post and realizing we still have an 8mm camcorder, use VHS tapes, and run Windows ME...you can tell we'd rather spend money on car parts and not the latest technology. :D

Thanks mr340, I will make a trip to Best Buy this week. :)

Dazzle is fine it's good and cheap.

Now about your equipment...the Television and Electronics Museum in New York would like to talk to you about your donating the only working copy of WinME.

I have Windows ME also [smilie=f:(it's still on the CD, but I have it). I'll have to assume it might work:bwuhaha:, but I'm not willing to find out.:naughty:

Don't jinx me!!! :bwuhaha: Everytime it crashes I've managed to bring it back to life. Usually with a good swift kick. I think it likes the abuse. :shifty:

There is still a vapor cloud lingering where ME once resided, not unlike an unwanted ghost.....hovering in the computer room, you know, the one without a computer down the hall to the left.

LOL i was running ME untill about 5 months ago..2 other pc's are still runing it in the house..and the shop pc thats being built WILL be an ME machine for its lifetime...i never realy had much problems with me like i did 98

Two words: Windows 2000. I had an ancient 500 mhz Pentium 2 that ran on it WAY better than 98. ME is a waste of time.

2k eh...hmmm dont have me a copy of that ...yet

Get it. I prefer XP over 2k but others are the opposite. Both are light years ahead of ME and 98 in stability. 98 crashed on my machine a few times a week (blue screen of death). After installing 2k, it was good for 8 months until I ditched the machine and bought another one with XP. That computer still lives with 2k on it but it's a back-up for my parents.

I actually loaded 98 se on one recently, old gateway cow 133 P1 that I overclocked. Old style ram but its got all 64 of them. The old 14.4 modem even dials. Everything else gets XP.:naughty:
