Concerts I'll see this year

Seeing the FREE Ozzfest thread got me thinking about what I'll likely see this year.

My daughter bought me an early birthday present and I'm going to see Colin James this Sunday at Hamilton Place.

Roger Hodgson (ex of Supertramp) is doing his solo gig at the Fallsview Niagara Casino at the end of May. Tickets went on sale yesterday and I scooped a pair of second row aisle seats.

Not sure what else. I tend to do these things at the spur of the moment rather than plan for them.

Oh, and the Mick Fleetwood Band played my sales conference in Vegas last month. I skipped it. Meetings ran late that day and I had no interest in walking over to to another casino for a stand-up buffet with 3500 other people and then listen to that. I don't hate the music, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. And we did Karaoke to start the night off. :wtf:

So, what y'all planning or hoping to see this year and where?

one of the philly area country stations has a free concert every year... i'll prolly go to that... was supposed to be going to the Kenny Chesney Stadium concert with my GF (now ex after a mere 8 days) but thats not gonna happen now.... so most of the summer i think im just gonna hit up the mopar shows in the area.... maybe take the RC to the track a few times and see what it'll run.... and definitely gonna try and make the nuts nats in august....

Would LOVE to go to Detroit for Ozzfest but I think tickets are all gone being they were free. :( The casino up here gets some decent shows here and there during the spring/summer so might go to one of those depending on who's playing. As usual I'll be seeing a friends band BadSide as well as anoter friends band (if they can get their shit straight this time) Insipid Brutality. SO just basically local shows and who ever decides to play the casino.

I'd like to see B.B. King before he's done touring or done for good (a bit nervous after that hospital scare a few weeks ago). A friend of mine got tickets to see Eric Clapton and I'm jealous of him for that but he paid a pretty penny for those tickets. Other than that, not much is on my "must see" list.

Well, we didn't make it to the Rankins in London earlier thi month (Have seen them countless times), but maybe we'll make it to Aerosmith this summer. They're playing here in Sarnia at Bayfest, Toby Keith is playing that weelend as well.:giggedy:

All my music idols are dead.:(

Na, some just SMELL like they're dead.

or

I like the Dead, too, but I like some other bands also.

You knows there's a Rock and Roll Hell

I will see lots that I would rather not.

I am making a point of going to see the Ronnie James Dio era version of Black Sabbath in a couple weeks tho...

For two albums, Sabbath actually had a singer. The last time I saw Black Sabbath, The Mob Rules was new on the record store shelves.

You mean Heaven and Hell. Not really a fan of Dio and as far as I'm concerned he was NOT in Black Sabbath!! (Sabbath was Ozzy!:toot:)Regardless, I wouldn't mind seeing them as well. I prefer Ozzy over Ronnie myself but still, Heaven & Hell outta be a good show! :)

Well, I lived through both eras of the band - (Matter of fact, I was probably about your age at the time) - The best Sabbath album ever was Heaven & Hell. Period. It was IMO, the best era of Black Sabbath ever. Period. If they have decided to use that as the band's name due to legal reasons, well - I guess that's what they gotta do.

Ozzy was a character with a distinctive voice, not a good one. I myself prefer singers with some vocal ability, be it metal, pop, folk or whatever I am listening to. Ozzy had none of that. It's the same reason I find myself shying away from so many of the "new metal" acts. the music typically sounds pretty good until the screamer who is fronting the outfit spoils the whole scene.

Ozzy's self-destructive behavior and the fact that so may kids still look up to it is yet another reason he should fade into obscurity IMO.

Either way let us know how the Heaven and Hell show went! :) If they swing thru here I might go see em.....then again any chance I get to hear Iommi LIVE I'll jump on!! :D

Updates:

I saw RUSH in Vegas in July.

I've seen this guy twice - just this past Saturday: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=214666572

Funny guy and great music!

Will go see Roger Hodgson again in November. He's dong two nights with a full orchestra at Casino Rama. Last time we saw him, it was him and one other guy - sounded fantastic too.

I have my name in the lottery for the Spice Girls' concerts in Toronto and New York. :shifty: My daughter wants to go.

I'm hearing grumblings that my wife might get Mikey Bubblehead tickets for her birthday. We'll see.

I saw Rush a few weeks ago, great as always. Van Halen, maybe, and I am thinking of going to Blue October and YellowCard with my daughter tonight.

The kids got me some Mathew Good tickets for my birthday,he's playing Hamilton Place on Nov.2nd and looking forward to seeing him again.

Just remembered: I saw about 2 minutes of Downchild at the Burlington Ribfest.
http://www.downchild.com/

I like Downchild, but RibFest is an event that I don't think I'd ever go to again.
It was that bad that I didn't want to hang around for the free concert.
