I would have to say probably FM3 pink,on A and B body's anyhow,followed by Black,.rarest option.hmmmmmmm......well again on B body's would be a non rally dash clock,,,,rear window defrost on a rally guage car.

i have to agree with the hemi ss/aa fish and darts for rarest factory color and options..since there the fewest made..even more few that super birds

other rare what about the factory vert (was it RR or gtx?)
i know of 2 ultra rare options(atleast for 67-69 fishys) rear window defrost...even more rare on a fast back(im still looking for one)and clock tach's

the dymante....only one made and it was painted very weird color..it was just a concept too
The Diamante wasn't a production car... doesn't count.

I would guess the rarest color on a musclecar would probably be Sandpebble Beige, and the rarest option (again, for a musclecar) would be one of the following:
  • S17 reduced-rate suspension;
    L68 auto headlamp dimmer;
    J24 headlamp washers (hideaway cars only);
    M72 rear-only elastomeric bumper
I have never seen an S17 car of any kind, much less a musclecar.

S17 reduced-rate suspension;
L68 auto headlamp dimmer;

Got any info on what cars these options were offered Doc?.

Color code-999
option -I got no idea
olor code 999 is other than factory color-- I got a friend with a 999 code GTS-------original color is Burnished Silver Metalic-GM color

The rarest colour is B9 Blue 68 charger RT, And The rarest option is a 1971 dart demon sizzler, body-color grill, the colours citron yellow, plum crazy purple and hemi orange. Did you ever see a 1971 dart demon sizzler with a purple grill? [smilie=e:

I would imagine B9 would be rare on a '68, since there is no such code until 1969.

All 1968 colors are a single digit; B is black, 9 is Special Order (fleet). The only theoretical way to get "B9" to appear in the paint code would have been to get a B92 code, which would indicate a black-painted roof (B), special-order main body (9) color, and two-tone paint (2). However, all special-order-paint cars were monotone, with the triple-9 paint code.

If you're going by a specific model, which is different than saying "the rarest color on/for a Mopar musclecar", consider: there is only one known 1968 Hemi Road Runner with paint code "L", Surf Turquoise Metallic. The owner lives a couple miles from me. There is also only one 1970 Challenger T/A with paint code "L1", Sandpebble Beige. Doesn't get any more rare than 1... because 0 = nonexistant. There was a local kid who ordered a 999-code late-'80s Daytona from the local dealer. It was factory-painted C7 Plum Crazy; it was probably the only one of its kind (though not a musclecar).

Special-order paint was not available on Diamond-Star or re-branded import cars (i.e. Mitsubishi and Hillman) and was discontinued entirely in the early '90s. It was only intended fof fleet customers originally, but some crafty customers did manage to get their one-off cars built. Special-order paint is still available, but you need to place a minimum order of something like 50 vehicles at one time, in one color, to get it.

I've seen many Demons with factory body-colored grilles (including C7; I think every original Hemi Orange '71 I've ever seen was match-painted), and there are far more Demons with body-colored grilles than there are Chargers with headlamp washers. I've seen only one original muscle Charger (meaning R/T or '71 Super Bee--the rest aren't technically musclecars) coded for headlamp washers.

Still: I've never seen anything with S17 suspension, though.

No, in 1968, dark (Midnight) blue metallic is code E... a '68 Charger R/T with monotone Mightnight Blue paint would be code EE1. With a black-painted roof, the paint code would be BE2.

There's a 1969 B9 code shown available from Chrysler (Chrysler's paint number for it was AY2EB9), but it doesn't appear in the R-M paint chips of the day--either in color or in code.
